Brent De Cope August 18, 1959 - March 3, 2021

Brent De Cope, age 61, of Santaquin, Utah, returned home to his loving Heavenly Father on March 3rd, 2021 after a long and valiant battle with heart disease and other health issues. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children.

Brent was born on August 18th, 1959 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Leonard George and EvaDawn (Cutler) Cope.  He was the oldest sibling of 9 children. After graduating from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1978, he was called to serve in the New Mexico, Albuquerque Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had fond and loving memories from his mission and the people he served there.

Upon returning home from his mission he met and fell in love with Rose Marie Chandler. They were married on March 7th 1981 and then were sealed for time and all eternity on March 17th, 1982 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Both he and Rose came from large families so it came as no surprise that they had 5 children of their own; Trinity, Kevin, Jennifer, Stephen and Amber.

In 1983 Brent enlisted in the United States Army. He and his family were stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, he was in the 17th cavalry attached to the 101st Airborne Division. There he specialized in Aircraft Pneudraulics Repair, which would serve useful to him later in his career. Brent was Honorably discharged in 1986.

Returning home to Idaho, after leaving the military, Brent found work in Provo, Utah as an Aviation Mechanic. He and his family moved to Utah in 1986 and purchased a home in Santaquin in 1989. After working for Rocky Mountain Helicopters he went to work for Nestle Foods in Springville, Utah. He worked for them up until he medically retired due to his heart condition.

Brent spent his retirement doing what he loved most; genealogy. You could always find him sitting in front of his computer working on family history. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also loved to fish although he wasn’t able to do it as often as he would have liked. He enjoyed traveling to visit his mom in Northern Idaho and his sister in Michigan. He had a great love for spiritual music and relied upon it often for comfort and healing. He spent a great deal of time at doctor appointments and hospitals, although he rarely complained about his condition and the pain he had to endure. He was always positive about the challenges he went through. He made life-long friends throughout his medical journey over the years. He will be deeply missed by all.

Brent is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Cope, his children: Trinity Lawrence, Kevin Cope, Jennifer (Bodie) Humphrey, Stephen (Janie) Cope, Amber Cope and his Grandchildren: Katrina Lawrence, Cassandra Lawrence, Justin Nixon, Jace Nixon, David Lawrence, James Brinkerhoff, Rylee Cope, Rosslyn Cope, Christian Humphrey, Kenzie Cope and Jax Humphrey. Also, his Mother EvaDawn and siblings: Kevin (Bon) Cope, Rodney Cope, Kelly (Andrea) Cope, Tony (Linda) Cope, Sheri (Chris) Pangerl, Jeremy (Alyssa) Cope, Kristopher Cope and Kami (Dan) Shaw.

He is preceded in death by his father, Leonard George Cope, Son in Law Jacob Alma Lawrence and grandson BrentLee Charles Humphrey.
