Reece Alric Whittington August 4, 1999 - April 22, 2024

Born and raised in Montrose, Colorado to Deborah Combs and Andy Whittington, brother to Corbin Whittington, partner to Caitlyn McCoy, and father to Maxxton Whittington in Payson, Utah.

His bright shining light was extinguished on April 22, in Spanish Fork, Utah.

A graduate of Montrose high school, class of 2017, Reece spent several years working in Telluride for Young Construction where he learned to operate heavy equipment and excavation.

In 2022 Reece moved to Utah. He was especially proud of his time at the Sufco Coal Mine where he worked alongside fellow miners on the long walls. He eventually returned to heavy equipment operations to spend more time with his family. He took great pride in his work. His talent was continuously rewarded with promotions at all his jobs.

Reece was most proud of the life he had built in Utah with his loving partner Cailyn McCoy, her two boys Asher and Axel, and their baby boy Maxxton. Reece and Caitlyn enjoyed date nights at home, long drives listening to music, holding hands, and cuddling. Reece enjoyed learning how to cook and make old family recipes for his new little family. He was hugely affectionate, which he expressed with big full body hugs for those he adored.

The birth of Maxxton added a joy to Reece’s life he never imagined. He loved coming home at the end of the day and having Maxx run into his arms. He cherished his trips to the park with his son, where he could watch Maxx explore his big new world. Maxx’s first steps were a monumental moment for Reece. Ultimately, it was the small moments, like long naps on the couch holding his boy, or going for walks with Caitlyn, Maxx, Asher, Axel, and the dogs, that Reece valued most.

Above all, Reece was adventurous, loved having fun, laughing and being happy. Whether it was in the mountains camping and fishing with family and friends, swimming, learning to play the guitar, or simply at home hanging out and lighting up the room with jokes, laughter, love, and his smile.

Reece is survived by his partner Caitlyn McCoy, of Payson Utah, son, Maxxton Whittington, of Payson Utah, parents, Deborah Combs, Andy Whittington and brother, Corbin Whittington. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Michael Combs, and Russell Whittington.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Temple Events, the historic masonic hall located at 511 East Main Street in Montrose Colorado.
