Chris Stevens February 27, 1954 - April 24, 2024

 

Grant Christensen Stevens, affectionately known as Chris, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on April 24, 2024. Chris was born to David Elvin and Vera Christensen Stevens on February 27, 1954, in Delta, Utah. He was one of five children.

Chris’ family moved from Delta to Rose Park, Utah and in his sophomore year in high school they moved to Genola, Utah. At Payson High School, Chris excelled in wrestling and football and was a member of the state championship football team. After graduating, he earned a degree in auto mechanics from Utah Valley University.

Chris served in the United States Army. After he was discharged, he worked at Jones Paint and Glass in Provo, Utah and then was employed by Rayloc and worked as a quality control supervisor for many years before retiring.

Chris married Wendy Lisonbee on December 18, 1980, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Provo Temple.  Wendy passed away August 12, 2001. Chris married Julie Colvin April 17, 2015, in Spanish Fork, Utah and gained a stepdaughter.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Chris was a dedicated scouter and was actively involved in the Order of the Arrow and assisted many young men in obtaining Eagle Scout rank. He was a hunter safety instructor for many years and was an avid gun and scout patch collector. Chris loved being outdoors, fishing, and hunting. Chris accomplished his lifelong dream of fishing in Alaska.

Chris is survived by his spouse Julie; children, Chris Stevens, Sonja Stevens, Stephanie Gull, Chad Stevens, and Whitney Colvin; six grandchildren, Austin, Maddison, Hunter, Traygen Stevens, and David and Wendy Gull; brother, Rulon Stevens; sister, Jody Moore; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Wendy, parents, David and Vera Stevens, sister, Lynn Gallegos, and brothers, Larry and Steve Stevens.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Payson City Cemetery, 400 North 800 East, Payson, Utah. Visitation will be held prior from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah.
