Charles Frank Scholl Sr. January 25, 1936 - May 1, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Frank Scholl Sr. on May 1, 2024. Born in Dayton, Ohio on January 25, 1936, Charles was a man of immense character, whose life was marked by dedication, resilience, and a boundless spirit of service. As Helen Keller once said, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.” And Charles, he was one of those beautiful things, whose impact was felt by all who crossed paths with him.

Charles was a devoted medic in the U.S. Navy, a profession he excelled in, and retired from, having served his country with unwavering loyalty. He was a beacon of strength and determination. Even in retirement, he never stopped serving his community and family, always ready to lend a helping hand.

Charles was a widower, having been married to his beloved wife, Carol Atwood, with whom he shared the joys and challenges of life until her passing. He is survived by their adored children, Marian (Bud) Bidlack, Anna (James) Peterson, Dorene (Glen) Connell, Robert (Julie) Scholl, Jeremiah (Roberta) Scholl, who stood by him till his last moments. Charles was preceded in death by his father, Frederic Scholl, and his mother, Katherine Taylor, whose values and morals were the foundation of his life. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Carol and 2 children, Carolyne Welcome and Charles Scholl Jr. and a grandson Charles Wayne Benge.

Charles’s life was a testament to the beauty of service, the power of compassion, and the strength of family ties. His memory will forever inspire those who knew him.
