William David Markham, son of Glory and Pablo Herman, and Brian and Monnae Markham died at the age of 26 on July 31, 2024, in Salt Lake City, Utah, as a result of complications from Epilepsy. He passed away peacefully in his mother’s arms, surrounded by his family.
William was born on November 2, 1997, in Provo, Utah, and was living in Spanish Fork, Utah, at the time of his death. He is survived by his parents and siblings: Nicholas Herman, Christopher Herman, Camille Herman, Brandon (Anna) Herman, Nathan Herman, Phillip Markham, Sarah Herman, Quinton Markham, Pamela Herman, Mary Herman, and Sydney Markham. He is also survived by his Grandparents, Alan and Calleen Albright, Phillip and Margaret Markham, and Sandra Herman.
A man of many passions, William filled his days with writing, cheering on BYU football and basketball, debating politics, and strolling over to his Aunts and grandma’s house for a Fizz or a quick home-baked treat. His love of reading, history, genealogy, and old classic Disney movies (we’re talking Apple Dumpling Gang era) was only surpassed by his love for his family and his faith.
William dealt with many health issues, including Epilepsy, through most of his life, but worked through the bad times and obstacles that came with his condition and was a vital and much-cherished part of our family. Those struggles helped him become the tendered-hearted, compassionate, and kind man we loved. He made us smile with his quiet (and usually dry) sense of humor. He was always sure to be around when family and friends were gathered for any reason. He will be especially missed by his younger siblings, who remember him for being quick to drop what he was doing to play with them when they needed a friend, talk to them, and cheer them up when they were lonely, disappointed, discouraged, or sad, and to provide whatever act of kindness was needed.
His resilience mirrored his compassion as he cared for animals and engaged in temple work. He was a loving brother, often found wrestling with his brothers, playing with his little sisters, and competing for the “best blonde status” with one particular sister. He shared a special love of sports with his father, Brian Markham, while his mother, Glory Herman, cherished their quality time together. As a writer, he captured the hearts and minds of his readers, and as a faithful member of his church, he served an LDS service mission, freely giving his time and energy to those in need. In honor of William’s desire to be an organ donor, his final act of service in this life was to donate several vital organs that would help improve the outcome and quality of life for several people.
We doubt he realized how many people’s lives he touched or all the ways in which he made our lives better. His legacy is one of love, kindness, endurance, and faith. We thank our Heavenly Father for the time we had with him. We are sure that William is already enjoying multiple reunions with family and friends on the other side of the veil and enjoying a body that is free from illness and pain.
A viewing will be held for our beloved William on Tuesday, August 06, 2024, at 9:00 am MDT at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 1552 East 750 South, Spanish Fork, Utah, 84660. The funeral service will follow at the same venue at 11:00 am MDT.
In memory of William, we encourage you to share your favorite photos and memories on his memorial page. Whether it’s a moment of laughter, a shared passion, or simply a smile, we invite you to celebrate the life of this funny, compassionate, and creative soul. After all, it’s what William would have wanted – a tribute filled with love, laughter, and a dash of his signature quirkiness.

August 5, 2024 at 6:52 amInto Eternity
Breathing slowly now I knew it was time
A life lived well was nearing the end
Softly my senses began to go
As I traveled towards the glow.
I never felt liberated like this before
Taken over by an ease
A peace that filled my whole soul
I was going back home.
Though I knew I would be missed
I traveled on towards eternal bliss.
I went into a light that shined familiar
A Dear Brother I came to remember
A warm embrace that spoke intense love
As hand in hand we ventured above.
I saw again the time I had spent
Smiles and cries all that it meant
It was worth every trial I knew it now
Making me a man who made him proud.
The flash of the light left mortality behind
As I was changed body and mind
Everything clear no longer hidden
The truth and joy was fully given.
In the realm of purity and peace
I thanked my lord for this incredible place
I knew it was heaven for i felt it was sure
I had chosen the path, the road to endure.
As I felt my existence was finally complete
I heard from the Father powerful remarks
He said ” Children these realms i have given to you
The beauty and light and forever the view”
I realized I was in eternity
The perfected state of existence
My soul felt it from every part of my frame
I said a prayer thanking Him for His mercy and love
I was covered in eternity and that was beyond enough.
