Wendy Makaniani Smith September 26, 1978 - March 5, 2024

Our dear little sister, aunt, daughter, cousin, and friend Wendy Makaniani Smith, 45, of Sandy, Utah, passed away on the morning of March 5, 2024, after many years of severe health challenges.

She was born on September 26, 1978 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah to Isaac and Carolyn Smith. She was the youngest of five siblings. Wendy grew up in Sandy and attended the local schools in that area. She is a graduate of Alta High School, Class of 1997.

Prior to her health challenges, Wendy worked as a lunch lady for several schools near her home and at Deseret Industries, where she found many treasures. She was very good at her work. Wendy loved many things, including Disney movies, coloring, painting rocks, and playing games especially Wheel of Fortune), on her iPad. The thing that Wendy loved the most was spending time with her many nieces and nephews. Her face would light up and she would get so excited whenever they came to visit her.

Wendy is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held callings in the primary and nursery. She loved spending time with the little ones. While growing up and throughout adulthood, Wendy was really close with her older sister Tamra. They did just about everything together and you would rarely see them apart. They truly were kindred spirits. Though she carried on, Wendy missed her dear sister after her passing in 2020. Though we will miss having more experiences with her, we are happy knowing there is a joyous reunion with Tamra and her mom.

She is survived by her father Isaac Frank Smith, and her siblings: Annette (Kittisack) Soumpholphakdy, Robert (Holly) Smith, Aaron (Jennica) Smith, along with the many nieces and nephews she adored. She is preceded in death by her mother Carolyn and older sister Tamra.

Graveside service, for all those wishing to attend, will be Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery. Those wishing to help may contribute to the following Givesendgo.com account for her funeral expenses:
