Wayne D. Oveson August 11, 1944 - February 15, 2026

Wayne D. Oveson, a gentle soul known for his steady kindness and quiet devotion, passed away on February 15, 2026, at Maple Dell Assisted Living in Payson, Utah. He was 81 years old. Wayne was born on August 11, 1944, in Salt Lake City to Andrew Chester Oveson and Ada Loree Davis Oveson, joining a family grounded in faith, service, and love.

Wayne spent his life in Utah, calling Orem, Spring City, and Payson home at different times. He attended Orem High School, where he built friendships and developed the dependable work ethic that would define his life.

For 50 years, Wayne worked at Deseret Industries. His long and dedicated service was a reflection of his loyalty, his consistency, and the pride he took in contributing to his community. He was the kind of person who showed up—day after day, year after year—with a quiet determination that spoke volumes.

Wayne found joy in simple, meaningful pastimes. He loved bowling and could often be found working through crossword puzzles, word searches, or even practicing times tables—an endearing habit that reflected his appreciation for patterns and mental challenge. These small pleasures brought him comfort and kept his mind active.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wayne served faithfully as an elder. During his time at Maple Dell Assisted Living, he embraced the role of chorister, leading music with sincerity and heart. His gentle voice and steady presence enriched the lives of those around him.

Wayne is survived by his brothers Ronald Chester Oveson and Gary D. Oveson, and his sister Kathy Dell Horn. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Karen Oveson.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, located at 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah. A graveside service will follow on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Provo City Cemetery.

My favorite part of shopping at Deseret Industries was seeing Wayne with his nice smile and positive attitude. I saw him a lot at the bowling alley too. He showed me a photo of him riding a bear and he we laughed so hard about that. Wayne meant so much to me.
