Virginia Valeen Allred Fowles, affectionately known as Aunt Johnny or Gramcracker, passed away on November 29, 2023. Born to Virgil Clinton and Elva LaVon Hansen Allred on Valentine’s Day, 1946, in Mt Pleasant, Utah, Virginia embodied the qualities of love and spirit that her birthday symbolizes. As C.S. Lewis once said, “You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending,” Virginia took this to heart, continuously evolving, learning, and growing throughout her life.
She graduated from Springville High School. Virginia, a loving and spirited woman, was known for her diverse interests and talents. After obtaining associate degrees in culinary arts, interior design, and motorcycle mechanics, she embarked on a career as a chef, and would also work as a bus driver. Virginia was an artist, a motorcycle repair enthusiast, and a lover of puzzles. Her culinary skills were celebrated, and she even published poetry.
Virginia’s heart was always full of profound love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Robert (Nanette) Neil, Regina (Rick) Shoell, Nathan (Brenda) Fowles, and Amy (Nathan) Penrod; 16 grandchildren and 16 1/2 great-grandchildren; brother, Harry (Sandy) Allred; sister, Joanne Wiley; and sister-in-law, Mary Allred. She was preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Elva Allred, brothers Armond, Clifford, and Jimmy Allred, sister Carla Lewis, brothers-in-law Ron Wiley and James Lewis, and sisters-in-law Jeannine and Carol Allred.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4th, 2023, at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah.
