Vietta Durfee Funeral Service

Vietta Marie Furgason Durfee, of Payson, Utah, passed away on May 3, 2026, after a valiant fight against cancer. Surrounded by her loving children, she peacefully slipped away. She is now free from earthly suffering, illness, pain, and is resting in peace among the angels.

Vietta was born on September 13, 1967, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Homer Fay Furgason and Helen Luaine Hunt. She was raised in a home rooted in hard work, resilience, strong family bonds, and enduring faith—values that shaped her life and that she lovingly passed on to her children.

From a young age, Vietta had a deep love for music and singing. She started performing at age 6 as Shirley Temple then performed in school plays throughout junior high and high school, earning recognition as a Sterling Scholar in Music. She also had the opportunity to perform with the Utah Opera Company. Vietta graduated from Kearns High School in 1985, and a few years later met the love of her life, Robert K. Durfee. They were married on May 9, 1987, in the Salt Lake Temple.

Vietta had an unwavering testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and a deep belief in eternal families. She faithfully served as a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, always willing to accept callings in Primary, Relief Society, and beyond. She found great joy and peace in serving in the temple and in caring for those around her.

Above all, Vietta cherished her five children. She loved them deeply and devoted her life to nurturing and guiding them. Her legacy of love, strength, faith, and devotion to family will live on through them and through the generations she helped shape.

Vietta is survived by her husband Bob Durfee; children: Jessica Marie Golden, (Josephine Golden), Trisha Lynne Durfee (Michael Bringhurst), and grandson Kelso; William Robert Durfee (Alixandrea Lee); Amelia Lynne Parker (Matthew Parker); and Rachel Ann Durfee (Zephyr). Also survived by her mother, H Luaine Furgason; siblings: Lana Michaelson, Wesley Furgason (Tammy), John Furgason (Dawn), Katie Larson (Chris), Joshua Furgason (Tressa); as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and her mother-in-law Carol Ann (Kay) Durfee. She was preceded in death by her father, Homer Fay Furgason; and her father-in-law,  Kay O Durfee.

Both viewings and the funeral will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Payson 16th Ward Chapel, 650 West 800 South, Payson, Utah, as follows: Friday evening, May 8, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning, May 9, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be at Payson City Cemetery, 400 North 800 East Street, Payson, Utah.
