Vicky Durrant Funeral Service

Victoria Ann Durrant passed away peacefully on September 13, 2023, at the age of 66.

Vicky was born to Joe and Gerry Gerhart in Tracy, California on September 27, 1956. Some of her favorite memories growing up were spending time on her grandparents’ ranch in northern California.

After high school, Vicky attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah. It was there that she met her husband, Jim Durrant, and where she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and Jim were married on September 18,1976, in the Provo Utah temple. She said that it was love at first sight, and that love continued for 47 years.

Her faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ was strong. She enjoyed teaching the youth in Sunday School, trying her best to help them understand the scriptures in her own unique ways. Those she taught still remember her using a dictionary almost as much as the scriptures in her lessons, encouraging them to look up words they didn’t understand. She shared her testimony with her family throughout her life, often when someone needed to hear it most. Perhaps the strongest aspect of her faith is her belief that she will now be reunited with her husband.

Vicky tried her best to ensure that her children and grandchildren knew she loved them. Besides constantly telling them that she loved them, she did her best to show her love and support in various ways. She was a regular presence at football, baseball, softball and soccer games, band competitions, choir concerts, dance performances, plays, anything her children and grandchildren were involved in. She was always willing to share the latest achievements of her family with anyone, whether it be about how proud she was that one of her children got a promotion or new job, or a video of a grandchild.

She especially enjoyed spending time with and creating things for her grandchildren. One of her favorite gifts to give each grandchild was a cross-stitched picture of him or her for a baptism present. She was looking forward to spending her retirement years visiting family around the country, traversing the world, and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren. Though she did not get to see them grow up, she cherished the moments and smiles she did get to share.

Though illness took her earlier than expected, she fought a good fight and kept her faith until it was time to return home.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. She is survived by her sister Sue and brother John; children Tracy and David Montgomery, James and Esther, David and Jessica, William and Shanna; grandchildren Victoria and Kelby Grill, Johnathan, Tricia, Lexi, Drew, Rowan, Ivy, Jonah, Rebecca and Auggie.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mountain View 6th Ward building, located at 1023 Arrowhead Trail in Payson, Utah. A viewing will be held at the church from 9-10:30 a.m. that morning. Interment will be in Payson City Cemetery, 400 North 800 East, Payson, Utah.

Her family would like to thank all those who supported and loved her throughout her life, and the many people who shared their happiness and joy with her.
