Verla Marie Dowley, age 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Lake Shore on June 14, 2021.
Verla was born October 15, 1938, in Lehi, Utah, to David and Mary Grace. She married her sweetheart, Veldon D. Dowley, on June 1, 1959, in Nevada. Together they raised their three children: Kenneth, Marty, and Rochelle at their home in Lake Shore.
Her favorite place in the world to be was in the west desert. She loved camping with her family and watching the majestic wild horses run free. She loved helping with the family racehorses and raising pheasant on their farm. She enjoyed spending time at their cabin at Strawberry Reservoir with their close friends, going either snowmobiling or fishing. She loved doing her word circle books and watching game shows. She highly treasured all the many trips with her sisters-in-law that were like real sisters to her. Verla anxiously looked forward to the traditional yearly trip to the Snow Goose Festival in Delta.
She was a simple, sweet woman with a giant heart, and this was evidenced by the amount of people in her circle and lives that she touched and made all the better by just being herself.
Verla’s greatest gifts in life were her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; she loved them with all her heart, and she was the world’s best “GG”.
She is survived by her daughter, Rochelle Bird; two siblings: Della (Gerald) Adams, Jay (Nadene) Grace. She was preceded in death by her husband, Veldon Dowley; two sons, Kenneth Dowley and Marty Dowley; her parents, David and Mary Grace; and two sisters, Verda (Don) Chestnut and Wilmyra Compton; and her brother, Lawrence (Donna) Grace.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 28, 2021, at 11 o’clock in the morning at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery, 420 South 400 East, Spanish Fork, Utah 84660.
