Vaughn Jeffrey Bradley, 75, surrounded by his loving family, passed away July 14, 2022, in Genola, Utah. Vaughn was born to Frank and LaVona Frandson Bradley in Gunnison, Utah on February 12, 1947. He was the middle child of three sons.

After graduating from Gunnison High School, Vaughn continued his education and joined the National Guard (1970-1971). In 1971, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country for 13 years before being honorably discharged in 1984. Vaughn earned his Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Technology from Utah State University in 1974, and his Masters of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1982. Vaughn then went on to attend the United States Air Force Space Operation School in 1983, where he was a distinguished graduate.

Vaughn entered the Military in 1970 as an Aircraft Mechanic at Hill Air Force Base just south of Ogden, Utah and was soon assigned to Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho. In 1974, he began flying helicopters being assigned to several installations including Nellis Air Force Base, outside of Las Vegas, Nevada before being assigned to Clear Air Force Station in Northern Alaska as a trainer and evaluator. In 1984, after graduating as a distinguished graduate of the United States Air Force Space Operation School, one of Vaughn’s final and beloved assignments in the Air Force was being assigned to NASA’s Space Shuttle Flight Control at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. His final assignment, in 1987 was with SPACECOM at Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Vaughn married Jan L. Robinson on June 2, 1971, in Manti, Utah. They were blessed with three children: Kimberly Ann, Michael Ryan, and Holly Marie. Vaughn and Jan later parted ways and in 2007, Vaughn married Delberta Ricarda Garate in Sandy, Utah, and they were sealed for eternity February 12, 2010. This marriage blessed him with 15 stepchildren.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in the Eastern States mission exclusively in New York City in his youth. He served service missions in Ogden, Utah and taught English using the daily dose program, the Heber Valley Girls Camp, and a full-time Missionary Leaders Support service mission in Genola, Utah. Vaughn faithfully served in many other callings for his church throughout his life. He slipped through the Veil having a strong conviction of Jesus Christ being our Savior and Redeemer.

Vaughn loved scouting and enjoyed driving ATVs, camping, outdoor recreation, building, photography, and most of all, spending time with his family, especially when that time included outdoor adventures with his two brothers.

Vaughn worked hard to provide for his family and had an accomplished career which included his time served in the United States Air Force, working as a Logistics Engineer for Hercules Aerospace in Magna, Utah, as well as an Estimator for Utah Disaster Kleenup, and as a General Contractor running his own construction company building custom homes.

    Ariel Ferrin says

Vaughn was the best father-in-law I could ask for. I will be forever grateful for his presence in my husband’s life as a father figure and for his tender, loving example that he set in his marriage. He was the man Delberta and her children needed in their lives.

  2. REPLY
    Kaylene Redd says

I have missed Vaughn and Delberta since they moved as neighbors in Kaysville to Genola. I learned so much about Vaughn in this beautiful obituary. One thought stood out to me. Vaughn was a man who took joy and honor in service—serving God, his country, his family, and his fellowmen.
Delberta and family, I know you will carry on the great legacy of love and testimony that Vaughn has left to you. Know how much Bruce and I love and appreciate you. Kaylene Redd
