In Loving Memory of Valden Reed Hurst
Valden Reed Hurst, 50, passed away on November 18, 2025, after an extended and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 18, 1975, in Payson, Utah, to Ron and Sharon Hurst.
Valden grew up in Payson and spent much of his life surrounded by family, friends, and the outdoors he loved. From a young age, he was drawn to hunting, sports, and anything with a motor and a trail. He especially enjoyed hunting, playing softball, and riding off-road vehicles. Whether he was glassing a hillside, standing at the plate, or riding through the hills, Valden was in his element outside and on the move.
He is survived by his parents, Ron and Sharon Hurst; special friend; Traci Hitt, brothers; Rodney (Tracy) Hurst, Ken (Hedi) Hurst, Jay (Alisha) Hurst, and one sister Jody (Chris) Boss; his daughters Hannah (Brady) Aagard of Springville, Utah, Emily Russell of Riverton, Utah, Faith Smith of Spanish Fork, Utah, and Korin Taylor of Sanpete County, Utah; two grandchildren who brought him great joy; and 34 nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Valden dearly. Valden was preceded in death by his grandparents Hal and Zelda Hurst and Kay and Darthella Cook. He loved his family deeply and was proud of each of them.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025, at the Payson City Cemetery, located at 400 North 800 East in Payson, Utah. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah, before the service. There will also be a visitation on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Valden will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
His strength, his laugh, and his love for the outdoors will be remembered and cherished always.
