Tommy Robert Tervort, 72, passed away peacefully March 27, 2022 after a long and valiant battle with Parkinson’s Disease (PSP). He was born April 6, 1949 in Payson, Utah to Glen and Nona Tervort. He was raised in Payson, Utah and graduated from Payson High School in 1967. He was a lifelong dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
In his younger years Tom was a standout athlete. He enrolled at Ricks College where he played football. This proved to be a blessing in Tom’s life as the experience turned him to the Lord and ultimately led to his decision to serve as a missionary.

Soon after graduating from BYU he taught seminary in Ferron, UT and later in Nephi, Utah. His teaching and example impacted many. He then began a pursuit in business and sales where he found great success and continued to positively touch the lives of others.
He served in many leadership capacities as a member of the church including Bishop, Young Men’s President, Elder’s Quorum President, a counselor in the Utah Provo Mission and many other callings. In 2010 he received a call to serve with Paula as a Mission President for the Mexico City Northwest Mission. This was one of his life’s greatest highlights. He loved the missionaries and people he served. Missionary work was a true passion and he genuinely felt it a great honor to serve the Lord in this capacity. It brought him much joy and fulfillment.
Together, Tom and Paula raised 8 wonderful children. His family brought so much joy to him and will forever be his greatest legacy. He deeply loved his wife, Paula. He cherished time with her, setting aside every Friday as their day. They were inseparable. His example of love, determination, valiance, and faith will be forever remembered by those that knew him.

March 29, 2022 at 4:05 amThis pains me to hear and see. President Tervort was my mission President from 2011-2013. He thought me to have my own conversion with the Lord first and then I could push the Lords work forth to others. He thought me to conquer fear and harness light to bring about good in every person I came in contact with in Mexico City. I came to understand the Holy Ghost and the feelings that come with it from the teaching of President Tervort. My family and I are forever grateful for you. May you Rest In Peace. Until we meet again.

March 29, 2022 at 4:46 amLife is a great teacher and so beautiful then in a split second, with the news of a loved one’s sudden death, the world changes forever.Dear President Tervort your death creates a gaping wound. I kept a list of the lessons I learned from you a long the way and I will hold with me always. I learned so many things from you. I learned that not knowing is the only thing to know. I learned I have a lot more to learn about myself. I learned that the answers we often look for outside of ourselves, can only be found within. I learned the value of a moment. Thank you for everything you have done for me.love you tons. I cannot find the right words To offer peace to all your loves one’s and close friends. I just know this is not a time to understand anything. During an overage lifetime there are many pains, many grieves to be borne. We don’t get over them; we learn to live with them, to go growing and feeling, and understanding… what we call the beginning is often the end .To make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from.

March 30, 2022 at 3:07 amI was blessed to have Tom as my uncle and to also have him as an entrepreneurial mentor. I’ll never forget the time he spent with me stretching my vision of what was possible to achieve in this life by sharing his business success story. He inspired me to become licensed in financial securities and life insurance and work with him. He was amazing at business and he made a profound influence in my life. Some of the things I learned from him I took with me into my water business. It truly meant so much to me when he came to Oklahoma to visit me. He and Paula have an absolutely beautiful family and his legacy will live on throughout generations of time.
Tonight I send all my love and prayers to his family. So very thankful that Families are Forever and that we will see him again someday.
