Theodore Livingston Livestream Broadcast

Theodore Lee Livingston, Sr. passed away on October 10, 2025 at the age of eighty-six.

Ted was born on August 9, 1939 in Los Angeles, California at his home to Leander and Mary Geneva Hansen Livingston. He was raised in East Los Angeles and graduated from Montebello high school in 1957. That September he joined the Army and served in Okinawa, Japan, followed by serving a full-time LDS mission in Uruguay and Paraguay from 1962-1964.

After returning from his mission he joined the LA County Sheriff Department. He met his wife Mary Patricia Corey and they were married on March 20, 1965 in the Los Angeles temple. Later, they moved to Utah where Ted attended Brigham Young University and received his bachelor degree in Spanish Literature, minoring in Russian and Political Science. After graduation, they moved to Concord, California where Ted worked as a police officer in Oakland for three years while attending San Jose State. He received his Master’s degree in Criminal Justice. Together, Ted and Pat raised seven children and were married for forty-four years until Pat’s passing on October 7, 2009.

On August 28, 2011, Ted married Sheri Talakai, and they were devoted companions until his passing. This union added three more children to his family, whom he loved as his own.

He is survived by his wife, Sheri, their combined children of ten: Rick (Penny) Brown, Michelle (Kevin) Casey, Ted Livingston Jr., Rachael (Doug) Greer, Joseph (Jessica) Livingston, Nicole Livingston, Keith (Erin) Livingston, Lance (Lily) Talakai, Jayson (Leva) Talakai, Kelani Talakai, 34 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and his sister Barbara Elbel. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Pat, his parents, and two brothers, Keith and Vorris.

Ted was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in various positions, including the bishopric, Stake Patriarch, and temple ordinance worker. He made a career at Mountainland Associates of Governments as the Director of Human Services, law enforcement, and served in the Reserves National Guard for seventeen years, retiring as Sergeant First Class at the age of sixty-three.

Ted will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His greatest joy was spending time with his family—gathering everyone together for stories, laughter, and long conversations that often turned into lessons about life, faith, and perseverance. He loved sharing memories of his youth, his military service, and his mission abroad, always bringing a sparkle of humor and humility to his tales. Those who knew Ted will remember his warm smile, quick wit, and unwavering kindness. His presence filled every room with love and steadiness, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

Dear Livingston Family —- I loved being close to Ted in the mission field. His time in the military before his mission gave him a maturity beyond many of our fellow companions. Desipite me living overseas for 30 years, Ted and I somehow communicated from time to time. It was always a joy. It was as if we had been good friends our whole lives. Two Southern Californians, Utah converts. How wonderful that Ted was blessed with the ability to provide frequent Priesthood blessings to his large family and many others as a Stake Patriarch. He remained very faithful to our Savior. Thank you, Michelle, for communicating with me a few days ago about your father’s passing, having only found my telephone number amongst Ted’s belongings. Those remaining Uruguay / Paraguay 1962-64 missionaries serving with Ted were just advised of his passing and funeral. My wife and I send our love to the Livingston family. Leon & Randie Reinhart
