Terry V Gilson, age 77, also known as “Blue Streaker”, passed away on May 17, 2026, in Provo, Utah after a valiant battle with illness. Terry was born to Raymond William Gilson and Mary Lou Rappleye Gilson on July 15, 1948, in Provo, Utah. He graduated from Orem High School. After returning from the Vietnam war, Terry and Linda Rose Anderson became engaged and two years later, on June 6, 1969, they married in Orem, Utah. They were blessed with three sons, Brent R, Jerry Dee, and Steven Glen.
Terry served with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam war with the 683rd Heavy Equipment Maintenance Company as a mechanic. He was stationed in California and at Area 51 in Nevada.
He worked hard to support his family and was employed at the Togote factory, was a truck driver for a short time, and spent 30 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator at Geneva Steel. In his free time, Terry tilled gardens for others with his many tractors.
Terry grew up on a farm in Orem, Utah and was a horseman and lived the cowboy life. He held a special place in his heart for Lucky his mare and Apache his colt. He loved adventuring on his Harley Davidson motorcycle with Linda on back with many friends alongside him. He cherished time spent outdoors camping, especially in the desert and like his parents he was a rockhound. Topaz Mountain was a special place for Terry and Linda.
Terry was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was working towards a temple marriage to his sweetheart.
Terry was always loving on and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They brought him great joy as did he did them. He was a selfless man and those who were blessed to be part of his life will forever be changed by his love. With Terry around, there was never a dull moment and lots of laughter. He will forever be cherished and deeply missed.
Terry is survived by his wife Linda Rose Gilson, son Steven (Michelle) Gilson, and brother David R Gilson, 10 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter due to arrive in July. He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Mary Gilson, brothers, Paul W Gilson and Mark L Gilson, half-siblings, Gala Kribs, Faye Barnes, and Gary Gilson, sons, Brent R Gilson and Jerry Dee Gilson, and granddaughter Alyssa Brailsford Gilson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 681 East 500 North in Payson, Utah. Visitation will be prior from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment with military honors will be in Payson City Cemetery, 400 North 800 East, Payson, Utah.
