Sylvia Coreen Romero Linton July 24, 1944 - March 19, 2021

On March 19th, 2021, the light and cornerstone of our family, Sylvia Coreen Romero Linton was escorted to heaven by her anxiously awaiting daughter, Ronene Harrison, and mother, Cora Romero. Coreen was an angel on this earth, loved and cherished by all who knew her. Coreen was born July 24, 1944, to Earl and Cora Romero in Spanish Fork, Utah. Her birthday was celebrated in tandem with Pioneer Day, a state-wide celebration in Utah. Coreen attended Elementary, Junior High, and High School in Spanish Fork, graduating in 1962. She sang in the Acapella Choir during high school as a timid soprano singer with a beautiful voice. Coreen attended Utah State College in 1963.

That same year, Coreen met and dated her lifelong sweetheart, Ron Linton once he returned from Basic Military Training in the National Guard. They were married on August 26, 1965, and sealed in the temple shortly after.

Coreen was an extraordinary seamstress and her talent landed her a job at Barbizon sewing company in Orem and later at the Osborne sewing plant in Spanish Fork. She became renowned for her famous kitchen scrubbies, dish towels, and black raspberry jam which she made and gave away freely to family, friends, and neighbors.

Coreen served lunch to the children of Salem Elementary for several years and her last employer was Stouffers in Springville where she was a line leader. However, Coreen’s most valued and recognized position was taking care of her children and grandchildren and the memories they shared are irreplaceable.

In 1969, after several years of trying to conceive, Ron and Coreen were elated to adopt and welcome a beautiful daughter, Ronene to their family. Shortly after, Coreen was thrilled to find out she was pregnant with their second daughter, Amy. Coreen was the best mother in the world, providing Ronene and Amy with the most wonderful childhood anyone could ask for. Ronene and Amy were always dressed in custom-made outfits and intricate dresses sewn by Coreen and she ensured that every minute of their childhood was filled with love, imagination, and adventure. One winter day when the snow was very deep, Coreen and one of her good friends fired up the snowmobiles and picked up Ronene and Amy from elementary school. They were the talk of the school the following day.

Coreen was a member of the Lady Lions Club in Salem and assisted with the annual Salem Day breakfast and Easter egg hunts. She was an excellent golfer and belonged to the Ladies Golf Association in Payson. Coreen and Ron shared many fun times with their close friends in Salem, from deer hunting to the racehorses, to road trips. In their retirement years, they enjoyed playing in couples golf tournaments, off-roading in Southern Utah, and snowmobiling in the winter months. They traveled all over the United States, the Caribbean, Mexico, and even Germany.

One of the most cherished moments in Coreen’s life was her time at the cabin in Fairview Lakes. Ron and Coreen built their cabin from the ground-up and the years and memories they had at the cabin with their children, grandchildren, friends, and relatives will never be forgotten.

In June of 2017, three months after losing their precious daughter, Ronene to cancer, Coreen was diagnosed with stage I pancreatic cancer and thus began her four-year battle where she defeated all odds given her age and diagnosis. Coreen was a warrior, surviving two surgeries and multiple chemotherapy treatments. Her strength, courage, resilience, and positive attitude will be an example for all her posterity to follow and live up to.

To our beautiful, precious Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma … you are our beacon, our pillar of hope, the example we will look up to and follow, our light in the darkness. Forever and always, we will … “Love you to the moon and back. To infinity and beyond.”

Coreen is survived by her husband, Ron of Salem, and daughter Amy Johnson of Henderson. Siblings Judy Watkins of Payson, Jerry Romero, and Jeffrey Romero, both of Spanish Fork. Grandchildren Alexandria Harrison of Coeur d’Alene, Becca Evans of Eagle Mountain, Quinn Johnson and Tate Johnson of Orem, and Savana Johnson of Nephi. Great-grandchildren, Stella Mae Morgan, and Greyson and Owen Evans.

The family wishes to thank nurse Nancy Trapnell from Encompass Home Health & Hospice for her loving care throughout Coreen’s last few months. We would also like to give a heartfelt thank you to Coreen’s angel sister, Judy Watkins for all her love, support, and especially helping us to get through our mom’s final days.

A Celebration of Life will be held March 24th, 2021 at the Salem Community Center located at 151 W. 300 S. Salem, Utah.
