Steven Hansen White April 11, 1950 - May 27, 2026

Our Dad had recently said, “Hell’s full and God doesn’t want me yet.” Well, God took our dear Dad, Steven Hansen White, on to greener pastures in the early morning of May 27, 2026 after a brief illness. Steven was born on a cool spring morning in Rock Springs, Wyoming on April 11, 1950 to Edward and Lela Rae White. He was raised in Spanish Fork working alongside his grandparents on farms and in a butcher shop. Dad was part of the Spanish Fork High School FFA livestock judging team that went to nationals. He was honorably discharged from the Utah National Guard. Steven married Pamela Gebhardt, the mother of his beloved children, in 1970 and was later divorced.

Dad was a true blue cowboy from the beginning of his life. He showed and bred Quarter horses winning many shows in Halter and Western Pleasure. He rode up Spanish Fork canyon for the Diamond Fork Cattle Club for many years where several fond memories were made. Dad owned and operated Trails End Cafe for 23 years where he had lots of friends who loved to shoot the breeze and sip their coffee daily. He was known around the area for the delicious food as much as the colorful jokes and stories he was known to share. One of Dad’s favorite jobs was working for Dean and Lane Parker as an auctioneer and ring man for horse auctions around the country. In his later years, he drove longbed trailer and truck clocking 2 ½ million miles over 41 states with his trusty companion dogs, Whizz and Dax.

Dad loved the town of Spanish Fork with a family history deeply set in the area. He enjoyed helping work the Ram Sale and feeding the participants as well as supporting the Spanish Fork Junior Livestock Show. Dad lived in his childhood home in his later years where he took over the care of more than 100 rosebushes. He tended to them attentively. He often would give his beautifully colored blooms to strangers who would stop and ask about them or to his granddaughters. He was a dedicated man to his work, hobbies and sobriety. Dad claimed and celebrated sobriety for the last 19 years of his life all out of love and devotion to his children: Tiffany (David) Fairbanks, Patrick (Megan) White, Chelsey (Cole) Ercanbrack and Rachelle (Kody) Carling. He lovingly had nicknames for each one of us. He was the proud Cowboy Grandpa, Papa Steve and Gwompa to 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Stuart (Shannon) White and preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marriden Warner.

Dad, we hope you’re tapping your cowboy boots in your perfectly starched Wranglers to your favorite music, enjoying a prime rib dinner and knowing you are loved so much. Your loss leaves a hole in our hearts that’s palpable and unfillable. Until our trails meet again, Dad, we love you beyond measure.

Sending condolences to Tiffany and the rest of the family. My mom was feeling the same way until she passed in March. “Nobody wants me up there yet,” She’d say. I hope you are all feeling the love from so many people who your dad influenced and befriended. He was a staple of the community and will never be forgotten. Sending you all love at this difficult time.

    To the White family,

I’m very saddened to learn of Steve’s passing. I send heartfelt condolences to you all. Steve was truly one of a kind. I spent many hours sitting in Trails End Cafe listening to his tales. Some surely true, and some quite frankly fiction! I’m going to miss you ole buddy. Thanks for all of the laughter and memories Steve. Ride tall in the saddle and may you rest in peace.

    Sorry to hear about Steve.
I sold Pepsi products to Steve back when he had the gas station at 6th N and Main before selling it to Sheldon Gordon (Sag’s). Hauled about 100 cases to his horse barn somewhere up by the old Kmart, so he could save 50 cents a case. Also sold to Stuart later on. Shared many jokes and stories with them. They had a lot of both. Burt B. from Pepsi.

You”re good friend and riding partner. ” It”s a long way from the good times, but it”s a long way bad times too. They say life is but a beautiful mess, it was made for Cowboys like you.” Rest easy, you earned it.
