Shirley June Cuthbertson Passey, 95, of Springville, Utah passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026. Born June 3, 1931, in Olathe Kansas, she was the daughter of Laverne and Elmer Hermann and sister of Robert Hermann.
As the country began to emerge from the Great Depression, her family moved to Tucson Arizona, where she grew to adulthood.
Shirley lived a long, full life marked by devotion to rearing her children, decades of church service and overcoming severe health issues. She was an excellent seamstress, loved doing genealogy for her ancestors, enjoyed regular temple attendance, and was a competitive card player.
Shirley attended nursing school at LA General Hospital in Los Angeles, California, where she earned her AA and RN degrees. She married her first husband, Robert Cuthbertson, in 1953 and worked to help put him through medical school. During their 50 years together, they had four children, Robert Jr., Karen, Joan Marie (deceased), and Susan.
They joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1967 and were actively involved in church and Rotary International for decades. In 2009, Shirley married widower Larry Passey, whom she described as the love of her life. Her son Bob says he never saw her happier than during the years she had with Larry, who passed away in 2021.
Shirley is survived by her children, Bob Jr (Teresa), Karen Sullivan (Paul), Susan Phillips, foster children, Jerry Fowler (Susan) and Gwenda Fowler (Mickey Justice) and stepchildren Robin McLaws (David), Stephen Passey (deceased), Tamara Wyatt (John), Bart Passey, Dayna West, Beth Nordstrom (Danny) and Jill Haws (Devin), 15 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
