Shela Rae Peterson Shepherd, 77, of Spanish Fork, Utah passed away Monday March 27th, 2023. Shela was born June 19th, 1945 to her parents Dean & Thela Peterson in Payson, Utah. Shela was raised with her 7 siblings in Thistle, Utah and graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1963.
Shela was an adventurer and always followed her heart. After graduating high school Shela traveled to California, Oregon, Nevada, and Idaho. In 1966 Shela married Bob Eichler and had 3 beautiful children, Retha, Verlena, and Bobby. In 1982 Shela moved back to Spanish Fork where she later found her soul mate. In 1988 Shela married Marvin Shepherd, in Spanish Fork, Utah, gaining 3 more wonderful children, Jeff, Charlie, and LeAnne. Together they had a wonderful life together raising their children, 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Later Shela came to love and gain another daughter, Karen Loveland, and 5 more grandchildren.
Shela loved to be out on the boat fishing any chance she could. She loved the calming of the lake and all the laughs she had while catching fish. In her free time, Shela loved to cook, sew, knit, and play cards. She looked forward to her weekly card games with her sister, Phyllis and husband Larry. She loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and would take any chance to be with them.
Shela opened her life to many recovering addicts, showing them the love they deserved and always believing in them. She will be missed by all that knew her and will always be loved.
Shela is survived by her daughter, Verlena Thorn, Son Jeff (Anne) Shepherd, Daughter Charlie (Mike) Agnus, Daughter LeAnne Shepherd, Sister Edith (Dave) Hazelton, Brother Joe Peterson, Brother Earl (Janet) Peterson, Sister Phyllis (Larry) Hawley, and Sister In-law Joan Peterson
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin Shepherd, Daughter Retha Davis, Son Bobby Eichler, Sister Mary Pace, Brother In-law David Pace, Brother Martin Peterson, Brother In-law Larry Fitch, Son In-law Curt Thorn, Grandson Carlos Reyes, and Grandson Charles Hawk Borel.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. located at the 5th Ward building, 1006 E 180 S, Spanish Fork, Utah. Family and friends may attend a visitation at the church on Saturday morning, April 1, 2023, from 9:45 am – 10:45 am prior to funeral. Interment is at the Spanish Fork Cemetery.
