Shawna May Oldroyd Wall passed away on February 6, 2025, at home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Fountain Green, Utah on June 20, 1934, to Golden Charles and Loa Matilda Anderson Oldroyd. Her family moved to Nephi, Utah, while she was young. She loved school. She was a great student. She became involved in many activities. Shawna played in the band and enjoyed traveling to California with them to perform. She was on the drill team, in choir, drama, and the FHA club. She spent many years trying to convince us that Juab High School Wasps were the best. She graduated from Juab High School with the class of 1952.
Shawna married her sweetheart Oran Lamont Wall on March 14, 1953, in Nephi, Utah. They were blessed with three daughters, Connie, LeeAnn, and Judy. Oran and Shawna made their home and raised their family in Santaquin. Oran passed away January 10, 2020. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Payson LDS Temple on August 19, 2023. We take comfort in knowing that she is reunited with our dad, her parents and the many other loved ones who have passed on before.
Shawna served in various church capacities over the years, including callings in Relief Society, Primary, and Young Women and as the secretary at Santaquin Museum. Shawna was a dedicated employee of the United States Postal Service, retiring after 24 years. She cherished her time spent in the Santaquin post office. She enjoyed working and helping the customers. She loved the people of Santaquin and made many friends there.
She worked hard at having a beautiful yard and growing her beautiful roses. She inherited a love of sports from her mother. She watched them with her family, when she was young, and continued to watch them throughout her life. She and Oran enjoyed watching all kinds of sports, especially cheering on the BYU Cougars and Utah Jazz. They also loved attending their children’s and grandchildren’s games, where she was their biggest cheerleader.
After Oran passed, Shawna found comfort in long phone calls with friends while watching the Jazz play. Having visitors made her happy. She enjoyed holiday celebrations and Easter egg hunts at the field and Christmas parties for her family. Shawna’s most treasured moments were those spent with her kids and her grandchildren enjoying root beer floats and playing games. She loved sitting on the front porch with her Diet Coke while she and Dad played a game they made up called “Who’s That.” Her best friend for the past 17 years was her beloved Shitzu, Daisy. Daisy was a great companion for mom and dad.
Shawna is survived by her children: Connie (Brad) Mattinson, LeeAnn (Larry) King, and Judy (Brent) Vincent; her brother, Robert (Louise) Oldroyd; her sister, Lucille Gadd; and her sisters-in-law, Theral Park, Julie Wall, Marie Christensen, and Marilyn Christensen. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oran Wall; her mother, Loa Anderson Oldroyd; her father, Golden (Ada) Oldroyd; and her great-grandson, Macen Lundell.
A special thank you to all friends and family for their love and support. We would also like to thank the amazing healthcare workers that dedicated countless hours in her care, especially Nicole, Chelsea, Cory, Cami, and Clark.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 545 North 200 East, Santaquin, Utah. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the same church. Interment will be in Santaquin City Cemetery, 100 East 300 South, Santaquin, Utah.
