Shawn L Moosman of Elk Ridge, Utah, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on October 19, 2021, at the age of 53.

Shawn was born on March 2, 1968, in Provo, Utah, to Ray and Arvalee Moosman. Shawn was the youngest of nine children. He graduated from Springville High School, where he met his high school sweetheart, Lori Sumsion.

Shawn and Lori married in August of 1988. Together, they created the most beautiful family of four darling daughters and one son. Shawn and Lori were sealed for time and all eternity in the Provo Utah Temple. He always treated his wife like a queen and loved their 33 years of marriage together. Shawn loved nothing more than spending time with his wife and children. He made sure they knew that he was always there for them. His family was his whole world. He truly was a man beyond measure.

Shawn loved to golf! He had a passion for golf and was truly talented at it. One of his favorite places to golf was at Bandon Dunes in Oregon and he enjoyed taking his friends with him. He loved to travel with his family and wife! He visited Europe, Mexico, Caribbean, Hawaii, Alaska, and many more places with his family and wife by his side. Shawn believed in doing things now rather than waiting until later. He always wanted to enjoy life as it comes. When it came to spending time with his family, Shawn gave his kids and grandkids a good appreciation of football; especially the BYU Cougars and the Denver Broncos. He also loved to throw a great party. Shawn had the best sense of humor. He kept everyone laughing and on their toes with his constant pranks. Shawn was always there to support his grandkids in whatever activity they chose to do. One of his favorite things was to keep the treasure chest stocked in his office with toys and candy. Each time the grandkids came to visit, he was so happy watching them pick something from the treasure chest.

Along with working for Geneva Steel, Shawn created Moosie’s Woodworks and grew his own business from the ground up. He employed many people over the years who became lifelong friends. He employs his three sons-in-law, who he truly saw and treated like sons of his own. He did so many things for them, from keeping the fridge stocked, new movies bought on Vudu every day, sending his favorite songs, and finding many ways to serve – without ever telling a single person it was him. We are grateful his family is able to continue to carry on the legacy he has worked so hard to build over the last 30 years at Moosie’s Woodworks. He was a teacher and made sure to teach all of his family the value of hard work. Shawn had an influence on so many people. He was constantly looking for ways to serve others. He touched the lives of many people. He is truly the most Christlike person we know.

Shawn is survived by his loving wife, Lori; and their children: Cassidi (Jake) Jepson, Ciara (Kylan) Southward, Aspyn (Carson) Jones, Peyton and Isabelle Moosman. He is also survived by the most adorable grandkids ever: Addalynn, Tayzlee and Tannon Jepson; and Scarlett Southward. He was the best husband, father, and “papa” anyone could ever ask for. He is also survived by his mom, Arvalee Swenson; his siblings, Trudi Lupus, Bryce Moosman, Ron Moosman, Kay Moosman and Tina Conder and his stepmom, Shirley Moosman. He is preceded in death by his dad, Ray; his brother (and best friend), Gary Moosman; and his sisters, Christina and Trina.

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021, from 6 until 8 in the evening at the Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main Street in Spanish Fork, Utah 84660. A second viewing will be on Saturday, October 23, 2021, from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the Elk Ridge 7th Ward Building at 185 East Ridge View Drive in Elk Ridge, Utah 84651. The funeral will then take place, in the chapel, at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon. Interment will be Saturday afternoon, following the funeral service, and will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah.

Our family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the ICU staff at Mountain View Hospital that worked tirelessly to care for him. We experienced a level of love and compassion we have never seen before. We have built friendships that will last a lifetime. They are truly our heroes.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to help with medical and funeral expenses:
