Sharon Lee Jones Fawson Funeral Service

Sharon Lee (Jones) Fawson born 26 April 1949, with a heart of gold and `eternal beauty, was called home to her loving Heavenly Father on 12 September 2022, 73 years after she was born to her parents, George Eldon Jones and Anna Jean (Johnson) Jones, the baby of the family. Tragically she was hit by a vehicle, dying on impact, coming home from her regular evening visit to the pickle ball courts at Sharon Park in Orem, Utah. It is a blessing she didn’t even see it coming and didn’t have to suffer.

She was blessed as a baby on 4 September 1949 by Reed J. Money. Sharon grew up in Payson, Utah riding horses, going to Yellowstone and visiting Las Vegas with her family. She attended seminary at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and graduated from Payson High School on 25 May 1967. Yearbook reviews reflect a love of friends and a “long” line of boys ready to court her. “…you were in love with life and that made you beautiful…” wrote Robin.

Sharon married Laurence Charles Bell shortly after she graduated high school and lived in Eureka, Utah. Larry joined the Army and they moved to Georgia, and he served in Vietnam. Together they brought Sean Troy Bell into the world on 13 November 1971. She worked as a waitress and maid, in the mines, as well as the fruit orchards over the years. She was a single mom from the time Sean was born, it was not easy, but she worked hard to provide for her son. She always spoke of how proud she was of her son and his service in the Marines as a Military Policeman, a Corrections Officer at the Promotory Correctional Facility in Draper for 2 years, a Deputy Sherriff at Utah County Sherriff’s Office in numerous positions: corrections, judicial, patrol and investigations. In addition, he worked as a death investigator for the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office. Sean retired from the Sheriff’s office in 2021 with 30 years of law enforcement and is currently working corporate security for Doterra International.

Sharon met her new soon-to-be husband at Colony Kitchen and married DeLoy S. Fawson (Navy Veteran) in March 1983. Their first daughter, Lacy Jean Fawson, joined them on earth shortly after, 6 May 1983. Their second daughter, Shantel Lee Fawson, was delivered in the ambulance on the way to the hospital 17 January 1985. They lived happily together in Payson, Utah dancing, bowling, and enjoying their friends until 1988 and then divorced. The two worked together to have a friendship that allowed them to jointly raise the girls over the years. Sharon moved her and the girls to Orem, her new home, a place she loved. She enjoyed the city life, the hustle and bustle, all the people and the endless opportunities to enjoy life!!! Sharon loved to share how proud she was of her two daughters. Lacy earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Utah, served in the US Army for 14 years and finished her career as a Logistician Captain with three combat deployments, one as a Company Commander, she is now building Swell Retreat in Castle Dale with her husband and children and owns her own Real Estate Brokerage, Salty Peak Real Estate. Shantel is an overcomer and is 16 years sober from a drug addiction that almost took her life a couple of times, she earned her Commercial Driver License (CDL-A) and drove a 65’ semi-truck delivering materials between Utah, Idaho, Nevada, and California, she assists her husband in operating CT&C a very successful manufacturing business, currently works at the school as a Social Emotional Behavior Para Educator, and she often would say that Shantel is the best mom she has ever met.

Sharon loved to work at Nestle (Stouffers) and did so for 27 years (1988 – 2015). She was a social butterfly, took pride in being a hard worker and “whistled” while she worked (even though she didn’t know how to whistle). She truly enjoyed work and made it fun for those around her. Anytime that the plant opened for families to tour she was so proud to take her children to see where she spent so much of her time working. She loved the times that Nestle had a “fun day” at Seven Peaks for all its employees and made sure to take the girls. She frequently worked overtime because she enjoyed it and it also served to supply her love of shopping, and oh how she loved to shop! Evidence filled her room this summer as she prepared for this upcoming Christmas with the perfect gifts, she found to put a smile on her children and grandkid’s faces. She will be tickled pink in Heaven to watch them open their gifts this Christmas. With the fruits of her labor, she enjoyed her home in Orem of 27 years, nice things, providing for her children well, and giving to others.

Sharon loved to walk and did multiple walk-a-thons with March of Dimes and other organizations. She walked a marathon while heavily pregnant with Lacy. Her children joke about running to keep up with her everywhere they went together. For years, as soon as she arrived home from work every day, she would walk for miles with her dog Cuddles and Lorraine Wright. She loved her animals like family, and she had a little dog at any given time and a cat or two around and they regularly were rescues from the animal shelter.

She loved country music and Elvis. Lacy & Shantel’s first concert with her was an Elvis Impersonation concert, she hooted and hollered, sang along with the lyrics, and it’s been a lasting memory of absolute fun! Sharon loved to bowl and won lots of bowling trophies. She had each of her children and some of their friends play on a bowling league with her over the years. She enjoyed donating plasma to help others and the cash that came from it was a bonus to fuel the fun. She loved to go to the dollar movie at Movies 8 in Provo frequently. She enjoyed visiting friends and family and did so regularly throughout her life to show her love for them. If she wasn’t with friends or family, she was constantly on the phone talking about life and what was going on with her sphere of influence. Her last several years were focused more on bingo as frequently as she could play. She often won things at bingo and found someone that she thought could use it and gift it to them. She loved to give to others, she would beam in delight as they received her gift. She visited the Orem, Grantsville, and Castle Dale Senior Centers frequently when she resided in those cities. The pinnacle point in her life was after retirement and she was able to go watch her grandchildren’s athletic events regularly.

Sharon received her endowments in the Timpanogos Temple, believed in a loving Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ, the power of forgiveness, the power of prayer (regularly sharing stories of how her prayers were answered and God’s grace was granted to her), and loved her church wards over the years. A special thank you to 4th Ward in the Windsor Stake for all their love and support over many years, her final church branch at Bel Air Assisted Living in Orem and all the residents and staff at Bel Air, her final residence.

Her last several months were some of the most enjoyable of her life. She regularly enjoyed her grandchildren, children and ran around with her best friend Roger Blaine attending concerts, Onion Days in Payson, her 50-year High School Reunion, shopping, watching the sunset and Pickle Ball, dining out, and visiting family. Sharon, unfortunately, had several abusive relationships and Roger showed her a true and pure love that was absent in most of her male relationships throughout life. We are eternally grateful to Roger!

Welcoming her back to her heavenly home are an unborn boy and her parents, George (Navy Veteran) and Anna Jean Jones.

Sharon is now an angel to her posterity who still reside on earth. Her oldest child, Sean Troy Bell of Santaquin, Utah; and two daughters, Lacy (Ben) Hardman of Castle Dale, Utah; and Shantel (David) Sullivan of Grantsville, Utah; her life’s joy who call her grandma: Colton & Morgan Bell, Gunner Bell, Logan Bell, Weston Wind, Kelcie-Anne, Alaynah, Paityn, Zane, Brielle, Caleb, Tegan, and Carsten, who she shared photos of with every friend and prospective friend who she crossed paths with. She dearly loved her grandchildren and her older brother, Theron Jones, who she visited and spoke with regularly, her half-sister Donna Zucca, and friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten.

Let’s celebrate and give tribute to our mom, grandma, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend at Walker Funeral Home at 587 S. 100 W. Payson, Utah 84561 on Saturday, 24 September 2022. Sharon’s viewing will be held from 9:30 AM till 10:30 AM, her funeral will be at 11 AM. Interment will be in Payson Cemetery following the funeral and then we will meet for lunch at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 650 W. 800 S. Payson, Utah 84651 in the cultural hall. We are excited to play bingo after lunch as that was one of Sharon’s most favorite past times, we hope to help her squeal with delight from Heaven.

Though Sharon loved flowers (and they are certainly welcomed), consider instead: donating to a Senior Center (Orem, Grantsville, Castle Dale) or your local Humane Society/animal shelter, plant a tree, a phone call to someone you haven’t spoken to in a while, extend forgiveness to someone who crossed you wrong, and/or share a prayer of gratitude for your blessings.

Thank you to every person who interacted with our mom with love, fun and patience!!

I worked with Sharon years ago at Nestle. She was one of the nicest people I have ever had the chance to work with along with one of the hardest working. She never missed a day of work and I really enjoyed visiting with her. I’ve lost track of her over the years, but she definitely influenced me to be a better person. God bless your family during this time.
