Sharon Jean Williams O’Brien May 4, 1935 - March 26, 2020

Our loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend, Sharon Jean Williams O’Brien, passed away March 26, 2020 in Provo, Utah, surrounded by her choicest blessings, her five children.  Sharon was born May 4, 1935 in Spanish Fork, Utah to Ernest Jones and Genevieve Bowen Williams.  She attended school in Spanish Fork and following her graduation from Spanish Fork High School, Sharon attended beauty college.

She married Dean Roberts on June 19, 1953, and they were later divorced.  She then met and married James Paul O’Brien on February 20, 1964.  She was a devoted wife and mother and had a flare for decorating and creating a lovely home for her family.  Her house was a show piece and she always kept it neat and tidy.

Sharon worked as a dental assistant, as a travel agent, and finished her career at Mountain Bell.  She especially loved to travel and enjoyed cruises.  She was a member of The Daughters of Utah Pioneers.  She belonged to a special friend’s “club” who met every month for 67 years.  Their last get together was December, 2019.

Her family brought her great joy and they were her greatest treasure.  She always supported her grandkids in all their activities.  They looked forward to her being there and for the $1.00 reward she provided, even if they lost.  She was the best Grandma and Great Grandma and she loved spending time with them. She was a classy lady in every way.

Sharon is survived by five children, Cindy (Ron) Mortensen, Laurie (Jim) Blackett, Ed (Stacey) Roberts, Jone (Mark) Dixon, and Jim O’Brien; daughter-in-law, Debbie O’Brien; brother-in-law, Larry Rowland; and Shari Snelgrove.  She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren who love and adore her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; two sisters, Lana Rowland and Kay Williams; a brother, Jones Williams; and three stepsons, Robert O’Brien, Rick O’Brien, and Michael O’Brien.

Graveside services for immediate family members will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery, 420 South 400 East, Spanish Fork, Utah.    The family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Oh, you guys! I’m SO sorry to see this, what a terrible time to have to say goodbye to your awesome mom 🙁 I loved this wonderful lady so much, and totally agree with every comment in the beautiful obituary. Right now, as I look at her picture, I’m remembering her return from one of those amazing cruises, when she came home with the worst sunburn I’ve ever seen! But it sure didn’t stop her from going again! I regret that we’re not able to gather with you and say hello, and share some hugs and memories. I pray for peace and comfort for your family at this difficult time.

I wanted to express my sympathy to you at the passing of your Mother and grandmother. Sharon was a lovely lady and she had a lovely family. We lived in the same ward in Spanish Fork for a few years. She was always a delight to be around. I moved from Spanish Fork 20 years ago so it’s been quite a while since I’ve seen her. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Love, Marilyn Leifson

I am Christie Ann Cherrington’s sister, Geneal Dart. I love Sharon and I have enjoyed my association with the family throughout the years. I actually took accordion lessons at Grandma’s home on about 1st or 2nd West and 7th or 8th North. My love and prayers go out to the family.

I am exceedingly sad today. I am sad that given the situation of the day, you can’t be surrounded by friends, as you should. We are all with you in thought. The one thing that brings me peace is that your wonderful family is together today, to say goodbye for now, to a wonderful lady! I loved Sharon. She was the standard for a classy lady and wonderful mother. She did a great job raising some wonderful children and bringing joy to those she came in contact with. I look forward to giving my wonderful friend Ed a hug later, when we do a celebration of life. I love you all!
