Sharon Crump Johnson, age 78, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at Covington Senior Living in Orem, Utah, where she had made her home for the past five years.
Sharon was born September 20, 1947, in Payson, Utah, to her loving parents, Ronal J Crump and Zella Deon Balle Crump. She was the oldest of four children and spent her childhood in Payson.
She graduated from Payson High School and later from LDS Business College in Salt Lake City.
On November 8, 1969, Sharon married Rodger Ellis Johnson in the Manti Utah Temple. Together they made their homes in Payson, Genola, and West Mountain and raised three children: Sherri Lynn, Alan, and Carl.
Sharon was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. She faced great loss when Rodger passed away on February 16, 1984, leaving her a widow at just 36 years old with three young children. She later experienced the heartbreak of losing her son Alan in 2004.
Throughout her life, Sharon worked in a variety of jobs, including manufacturing, assembly, and food service. Her favorite job was serving as a secretary at the Utah National Parks Boy Scout office in Provo.
Sharon enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. Lobster was her all-time favorite food, followed closely by Root beer and dark chocolate, and she especially enjoyed attending the Salmon Supper and the Scottish Festival in Payson. She loved puzzles and word games and was always happy to give—and receive—a warm hug.
Sharon’s life included many challenges, but she also found enjoyment in simple pleasures with her “Covington family” who loved her and will remember her, grateful she was able to spend her final years in a place she called home. We extend our gratitude to the loving staff and friends she made while living there.
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Sherri (Wayne) Mackey III; her son, Carl Johnson; her grandson, Blake (Shelby) Loomis, and their daughters, Gemma, Oaklyn, and Brooklyn; her granddaughter, Brandi (Daniel) Eppler, and their son, Hubert; and her granddaughter, Samantha (Clifford) Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodger E. Johnson; her son, Alan Rodger Johnson; and her parents, Ronal and Zella Crump.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Payson City Cemetery.

August 31, 2026 at 7:42 pmAunt Sharon was one of the kindest people I have ever known. She was such a great aunt. I was able to spend a lot of time over at her house. Her youngest son Carl was one of my best friends growing up. We would spend hours over at their West Mountain home. She was always willing to let me go and hang out there. She was very patient with me and Carl when we had sleepovers we usually liked to stay up late. Later in life when I would visit with her she always asked how are my kids were doing. She was a good listener. We had a lot of good memories together. Going to the band concerts in Payson. Christmas dinners at Grandma and Grandpa Crumps. My prayers go out to her kids and grandkids. Aunt Sharon will be missed but we know you are in a better place. Love Ronnie
