Shane F. Christensen Funeral Service

Shane F. Christensen, our incredible Husband, Father, Paca, Big Daddy Shane, Brother, Son, and our true hero – Superman, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022.

Shane was born the first of 8 children to Susan Marie Sanderson and Fred Ortho Christensen on October 19, 1970, in Payson, Utah. He graduated from Cyprus High School in 1988 and then went on to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Orsono, Chile.  This was one of the greatest adventures of his life and something he was so very proud of.  He loved the people of Chile and took great joy in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others.

He finished his mission and married his high school sweetheart, Melisa Barton, in the Salt Lake Temple on July 2, 1992.  They lived in Salt Lake City where their first child, Jessica Elaine Tremea, was born on May 7, 1993. Because of complications at childbirth, Melisa died on May 11, 1993.  Shane then raised his daughter as a single parent, until he was blessed to be set up on a blind date with Jennifer Howard.  Shane immediately fell in love with this incredible angel of a woman, and they were married on March 14, 1998, in the Manti Temple. Shane and Jennifer were then pleased to have a son, Matthew Scott Christensen, born the following Christmas on December 11, 1998, and a daughter Megan Coleen Christensen who followed five years later and was born on February 11, 2004.

Shane worked for and eventually owned his family business, Christensen Brothers and Associates (CB&A) where he spent his time completing progress report inspections for homes being built throughout the state of Utah.  He was blessed to work from home where he could spend all his time with his family.  Shane’s wife and children were everything to him.

Shane had the biggest heart and wanted to be sure that everyone around him always felt loved and happy.  This led him to become licensed to do Foster Care.  In his years as a foster parent, Shane loved and cared for almost 100 children.  Shane, or as the kids called him, “Big Daddy Shane” had a knack for helping those who were struggling.  He always knew just what to say to bring a smile to their face, help them feel safe, and help them understand that they were ALWAYS loved no matter what.

Shane was a collector of many things, but above all, he loved to collect Monster Jam Trucks.  Shane has always been a kid at heart, and he loved the toy replica Monster Jam trucks.  He loved collecting them, showing them off, and playing monster trucks with his sweet grandkids Raylan and Porter.  He was the very best “Paca” to them and instilled a deep love for monster trucks in their hearts.

Shane was also a connoisseur of candy.  His sweet tooth was unmatched by anyone.  He loved sweet, tart, and chewy candies and could always be found with a little jar or bowl of candy close by.  Before he could eat it though, he would always organize it by color because it “just tastes better that way”.  Shane always made sure that any child who visited with him left with a fistful of candy.  He would always be sneaking candies to others with a smile on his face that showed the true joy he felt in making others happy.

Shane loved to learn and particularly took great joy in reading more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  He was a proud member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He faced many hardships and trials in his life, but he never denied his testimony of and love for his Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.  Shane shared his testimony with everyone around him and was always there to help others feel how much their Father in Heaven loved them just as they were.

Shane is survived by his beloved wife Jennifer; children, Jessica and Addam Tremea, Matthew Christensen, and Megan Christensen; his precious grandchildren, Raylan and Porter Tremea; brothers and sisters along with their families; father, Fred Christensen; Amy Zeng; and father and mother in-laws, Don Barton and Patricia Toth.

He is preceded in death by his wife Melisa Barton, his mother Susan Marie Sanderson, his sweet nephews Dustin, Justin, Joseph, and Kyle along with other sweet angel nieces and nephews, a cousin, his grandparents and his father and mother-in-laws, Larry Lanford Howard and Coleen Finlayson.

Truly, the knowledge of life after death and FOREVER families gives us sweet peace and comfort that far outweighs our grief in losing such an incredible man.

A public viewing will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, in Santaquin, Utah from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building located at 350 West 860 North, Santaquin, Utah.  A funeral service will immediately follow in the same building starting at 11:00 a.m.

I’m so sorry, this breaks my heart. Me and Megan met in 7th grade and from then me and her became friends. Every time I came over for a sleepover or even just a hang out he always made me feel welcome. I became closer wit the family that we would pick on me and Megan with his funny jokes. I started looking up to him as my 2nd father when I had my family problems. I always looked forward to going to his house!

He will be missed. I knew Shane through his being involved in the foster family program. He was a joy every time he and his wife came into DCFS and WMH in Spanish Fork.
    Loved him.
