Scott Nolan Carter, beloved Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend, passed peacefully in his sleep October 11, 2022 at home with his loving family near him.

Scott was born February 5, 1967, in Provo, UT to David Earl Carter and Sheila Kay Rockwell. He grew up in Provo, Utah, where he attended Elementary and Middle school. He then moved to Springville, Utah, graduating from Springville High School in 1985. He attended BYU and was an avid BYU Football fan for life.

Scott served a 2 year mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Mexico, Mexico City North Mission. He served faithfully throughout his life, holding many different callings in the church. Scott had an unshakable testimony of the Gospel, which he bore openly and often. Scott loved and was loved by everyone he ever served with. He was a great man who loved and accepted anyone and everyone unconditionally. Everyone who knew him, loved him. He was a great influence to those around him.

Scott proposed to the love of his life, Joey Jensen Carter, of Spanish Fork, on the beach at Inspiration Point in CA. They were married on August 19, 1994 in the Manti, LDS temple, and had 3 amazing children; Meagan Calene (25), Karissa Arielle (24), and Ethan Scott (18). For Scott, family was everything. He was an amazing husband and father and was completely devoted to his family. He was selfless with his time and supportive in all aspects of their lives.

Scott was an artist, painting landscapes and drawing whatever inspired him. He loved the game of golf and would play as often as possible, which, in his opinion, was never enough! Scott was diagnosed with Glioblastoma on February 13th, 2022 and had surgery on February 14, 2022. He bravely endured chemotherapy and radiation, never complaining once. He had a positive attitude all throughout treatment and was truly an inspiration to many. Scott fought a good fight against a formidable foe.

Scott is survived by his wife and three children. He is also survived by his brothers, Jimmy Carter, John (Pam) Carter, and Robert (Keri) Carter, his 3 sisters, Tammy (Suzanne) Carter, Misty Kay, and Haley (Daryle) Harris, his step-mother, Linda Mendenhall Carter and 4 step-siblings, Shannon Ludlow (Michael Rowley), Matthew (Erin) Ludlow, Jaymes (Lindsie) Ludlow and Clayton Ludlow.. He is preceded in death by His Father, David Earl Carter, Mother, Sheila Kay Rockwell, and 2 brothers, John Sheldon Carter and Steven Lee Carter.

We’d like to send a huge Thank You to our family, friends and neighbors for all your love and support. Your thoughtfulness and generosity know no bounds! Everything you have done, and are still doing, is absolutely incredible. We have so many amazing and wonderful people around us and we can see how much you all care and how much love you have for Scott. We feel your love and your prayers and that’s what gets us through each day. We are also grateful to the army of medical personnel who helped Scott throughout this epic journey.

Scott is and was everything everyone thought he was. Guileless, humble, god fearing, loyal, and devoted. I’m a much much better person for just knowing and watching his example. We’ll miss you Scott tremendously.

Scott was such a kind and caring neighbor and friend. I got to know Scott from being his sons scoutmaster a few years ago. And I told Scott I was interested in showing the scouts HAM radio stuff, after Scott had made an announcement in church about a HAM radio stake event. Scott was so excited that I asked him about HAM radio. Ever since then, all we talked about was HAM radio. Scott asked me each week at church if I had passed my HAM radio exam. LOL! And a few times he saw me mowing my lawn when he drove past my house and he made an effort to stop and chat with me – and of course ask about the exam. haha! I finally did pass that exam and I had the great opportunity to join our stake HAM radio check-ins with Scott each week. Thank you Scott for being such a great friend and pushing me to get my HAM radio license. I’m now the HAM guy in our ward and participate and support our stake emergency preparedness initiative. You’ll never know how much influence you can have on a person. Thanks Scott! You are very much missed. And I know that you’ve lived such a great life based on the few interactions that you and I have had. Thank you!
