Sarah Ann Cook McKowen, age 64, passed away unexpectedly December 30, 2021, in Wales, Utah.
Sarah was born February 1, 1957, in Payson, Utah, to Kenneth Pershing Cook and Darthella Butler Cook. She was the fifth of six children and was raised in Goshen, Utah, where she loved helping her father on the ranch. She was also involved with the 4-H club for many years.
In 1975, Sarah graduated from Payson High School.
Sarah married Johnnie McKowen in 1979, and they were blessed with two children. They later divorced.
Later, through the years, she worked as a self-taught bookkeeper, waitress, an inspector for the Utah Department of Transportation, and for the Transportation Security Administration. The last ten years, Sarah lovingly and selflessly served as caregiver to family and friends.
Sarah was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is remembered as a caring person who always put others’ needs above her own and wanted nothing more than to make everyone happy.
Sarah was a bowler and was on a league for ten years. She enjoyed rock hounding and collecting antiques. She especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren.
Sarah is survived by her companion, Bert Lamb; son, Justin (Leslie) McKowen of Santaquin, Utah; daughter, Shellie (Tommy) Waters of Goshen, Utah; six grandchildren: Whitney, Alexis, Lacie, Abby, Zoey, and Kamden; siblings: Kayleen Peak, Sharon (Ron) Hurst, and Donna Lance (Larry); and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Roger (Loy) Hanna, and Paul Cook.

January 4, 2022 at 7:02 pmI knew Sarah when I lived in Goshen in the 60’s and 70’s. The next time I saw her was in Goshen at my sister’s graveside. I was really touched that she came to pay her condolences for my loss. It was a privilege to be able to talk to her. I wish I would have stayed in contact with her. She is a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul.

January 6, 2022 at 7:04 pmDear Sarah,
You left a little early to be with your family and friends on the other side. You sure will be missed on this side of the veil. Thank you for always being so kind, selfless, helpful and loving. You are a true disciple of Christlike behavior, and set a fine example for us to follow.
Growing up as neighbors in the small town of Goshen brought us together often. You were always so fun to be around, honest, friendly, full of life and hard working. I valued the time we got to spend together.
You know our thoughts, can feel the contents of our hearts, and are solicitous on our behalf. Your loved ones will be blessed in many ways to have a personal guardian angel like you helping guide, bless, protect and watch over them.
“Those we love don’t go away… they walk beside us everyday.
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
still loved, missed and very dear.”
We love you, feel blessed from knowing you, and will miss you until we meet again.
May God bless your family and loved ones.
