Sandra Leach passed away at about 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2022 in Spanish Fork, Utah from complications from Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
Sandra was born October 29, 1938 in Akeley, Minnesota. The family moved to Westwood, California when Sandra was in grammar school, and she went to school there. They moved back to Akeley, and she graduated from High School there. She was the queen in the parade in her senior year.
The family moved back to California immediately after Sandra graduated. The family lived in Anderson and Sandra went to Shasta College in Redding. She worked for the Division of Highway and received her Associate Arts degree at graduation.
While at Shasta, she met C. Frank Leach, one of the students. The courtship led to their marriage on March 21, 1959. Because of the nature of the work Frank did, they moved over 30 times. Sandra has been an amazing wife. Shortly after marriage, Frank and Sandra’s brother Dale planned a day of fishing out of Redding. Frank got up quietly and went to the kitchen to fix breakfast. Sandra beat him to it and was up before 5 a.m.. It was that way nearly every time for Frank whether he was going to work in the woods for his job or another activity, Sandra wanted him fed well.
Sandra participated in the businesses of the family. She helped with bookkeeping in the stores, and did other things as needed. Her top priority has always been the family and the six children they had which included Mike, Lindsey, Tim, Mary, Laura, and Cara.
Sandra was the leader of the family and she felt joy when members of the family met their goals. She went to activities and led the family in Church activities. She met the missionaries in Saratoga, Wyoming and became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while living in Fort Collins, Colorado. She had many callings in the Church and was very dedicated. She served a mission in the visitors center in St. George with Frank. She lived in St. George for ten years.
Sandra developed Alzheimer’s and Dementia in about 2017 and it became slowly more difficult for her to do her activities. We, in the family, are heart broken. She was the best and we know she still is the best. Her love and dedication to us had made us all better.
A pre-service gathering will be held for Sandra Wednesday, May 18, 2022 beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah. From there a graveside service will be conducted at the Payson City cemetery beginning at 1:00 p.m.
