Ruth LuAine Hansen Chambers, our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away at the age of 90, on Friday March 27, 2026. LuAine was also known as “Lanie” by her brothers, and “Louie” by friends and grandchildren. She was the second of six children born to Walter and Ruth Hansen on October 27, 1935. Her father often referred to her as “the petunia in the onion patch” because she was the only daughter among five brothers.

LuAine grew up in Ephriam, Utah. Her favorite memories include the weekly trips to the Nephi roller rink with her dad, brothers, and friends. She sewed her own intricate skating costumes, and perfected stunts like “shoot the duck” and striking a match with her teeth. It was at the roller rink where she met her soul mate, Leo Chambers. They were married in the Manti Temple on June 3, 1955. They lived in Payson, Utah, where they raised their 5 children: Rick, Dan, Shana, Alan, and Jeannie.

She was a woman of many skills and talents, including sewing, upholstery, home restoration and repair, drawing, painting, and cake decorating. LuAine’s father, Walt Hansen, was an inventor. He taught her that she could conquer anything with the right set of tools.
LuAine was the queen of FOMO (fear of missing out). She was always up for an adventure and never wanted to miss a party. She loved snowmobiling, four wheeling, hiking, camping and river running.

LuAine had an unwavering testimony of Christ. She influenced many people through her service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She particularly loved serving the young women in every capacity. She had a great sense of humor and was captain of the pranksters at girls’ camp. You could find her “borrowing” a watermelon from the stake leaders, and returning it stuffed with a cow pie…or catching frogs to put in the stake leader’s beds. Any time spent with LuAine would usually be accompanied by the sound of her laughter. She was slow to anger and quick to find the humor in any situation, the exception being, the times she couldn’t find her sewing scissors.
Her greatest joy came from spending time with family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She loved hearing about their lives and spending time with them. Their memories are filled with gingerbread houses, Valentine cookies, camping, cabins, rope swings, cherry turnovers, sewing projects, waffles, four-wheelers and all things purple.
LuAine is now reunited with her sweetheart, Leo Chambers; her mother, Ruth Hansen, and father, Walter Hansen; brothers Hal, Tom, and Nile Hansen; daughter-in-law Suzette Chambers and son-in-law Mike Huffaker. She is survived by her children: Rick Chambers, Dan Chambers (Angie Chambers), Shana Huffaker, Alan Chambers (Nikki Chambers), Jeannie Millecam (Kent Millecam), 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; as well as her brothers, Ross Hansen and Theodore Hansen.
Our family extends our sincere thanks to the staff at Heritage Gardens and Cascade Springs Home and Health Hospice for the kind and loving care they gave to mom during her last few months.

April 2, 2026 at 7:10 pmI can’t tell you enough how special she was! And your Dad was always someone I looked up to.. I wish I could have come to the funeral. I live in St George and my wife is having health problems. I remember her smile and that laugh was infectious. She ask me to come up to the cabin when they were building it to give advice on the plumbing. She was a beautiful person inside and out and she touched everybody with love. Loved her so much cousin Jon Hall
