Rulon Wayne Stevenson October 1, 1930 - April 28, 2022

Rulon Wayne Stevenson passed away peacefully at home, April 28, 2022, after a life well lived. He was born in Hollywood, California on October 1, 1930, to Rulon Wilford and Nellie Sophia Alberts Stevenson.

Wayne grew up in Los Angeles. He was an Eagle Scout, an avid swimmer, and played the trumpet. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1947, soon after graduating high school. During his service in the Air Force, he was an airplane mechanic, stationed in the Philippines as a support to those pilots in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged after serving one hitch.

After Wayne’s discharge from the Air Force, he worked as an airplane mechanic for Air Research. He also attended college achieving an Associate Degree.

He married Donna Lou Olsen on August 28, 1953. They were sealed together February 27, 1954, in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple. They are parents to Linda Darlene, Terri Lynn, and Daryl Wayne.

As his career progressed, Wayne became a technical writer for North American Rockwell. He wrote training manuals for projects such as the B-52 Bomber, the Apollo Space Mission, and the Space Shuttle. He was also the editor for Saberliner Magazine. He retired when he was 60 years old and moved to Bakersfield, California to be near his grandchildren. Approximately 12 years later, he moved to Payson, Utah, where he lived until his death.

When he was younger, Wayne loved to deep-sea fish. Later in life, he discovered golf and played at least once a week. His pride was in playing the golf courses at Pebble Beach, Spyglass, and Torrey Pines. Even when it became too difficult, physically, for him to play, he loved to watch golf on TV.

Wayne is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His favorite calling in the church was that of Scout Master. He served many years in that capacity.

His highest calling was that of husband and father. He loved his family and was always willing to help with anything his children and grandchildren might need.

Wayne was known in the neighborhood for his beautiful yard. He often spent eight hours a day as a labor of love in his yard. Just five days before his death, he was out puttering in his yard.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Lou, and two of his three children, Terri Lynn (Mike) Bowan and Daryl Wayne Stevenson. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Darlene.
