Ruby Jean Jolley May 13, 1935 - July 30, 2025

Ruby Jean was born May 13, 1935 to Ralph Jerry Kester and Elsie Lucille Kuntz. She was born in a home built by her father on West Mountain near Payson Ut. She is preceeded in death by a loving husband Neldon Virgil Jolley, her parents, and older brother Raymond Edward who passed at the age of 7 leaving her the oldest child at the age of 5. Including Raymond, she had 3 siblings, Goldie Eleen (Jim) Barben and Terry Kay (Barbara) Kester. She is survived by her children Christina Jean (Larry) Pay, Terry Virgil (Janette) Jolley, Kathaleen Ann (Dick) Lloyd, Angelene Rashl, (Wade) Huntsman, Felisha Janean (Kevin) Martin. Along with 44 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren their posterity totals 110!
Ruby spent her childhood in a loving home. Her family was very involved with their Presbyterian church. She always said that her parents’ teachings are what gave her a great foundation for her love and testimony of her Savior. She played the piano for her Presbyterian congregation.
She also attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with her friends, where she played the piano for the primary and the young women. Her mother taught and kept her involved in 4H where she received several awards, including a trip to Chicago, which was a major highlight for her. She loved living on the farm and all that it involved. Prior to graduating from Payson High School she attended Wasatch Academy, in Mount Pleasant, for two years.
Through her childhood she made and kept many friends. She maintained those precious friendships throughout her life. For graduation, Neldon proposed and gave her an engagement ring. They were married on the 4th of November, 1953 in Payson.
Following their marriage they moved to Henderson, Nevada, where she was taught by the missionaries and was baptized by Neldon. Mom always told us that she was dad’s mission!
After being baptized, her father told her, “If you are going to be a Mormon, then raise your children to be the best Mormons they can be.” On their first anniversary, in 1954, Christina Jean was born. On their second anniversary they were sealed as a family for time and all eternity in The Saint George, Utah Temple. The highlights of the years that followed were the births of their children, Terry Virgil in 1956, Kathaleen Ann in 1961, Angelene Rashl in 1971, and Felisha Janean in 1973. Throughout the years she strived to keep her promise to her father and raised her children to love their Savior. Neldon and Ruby’s highest priority was always providing a loving Christlike home for their family.
It was very important to her that she fulfilled all church callings faithfully and honorably. She served in ward and stake callings in many capacities. The highlight of her service was when she and her sweetheart served a mission in the Atlanta Georgia Temple. They then served as temple workers in the St. George Temple. It was also very important to her that she always held a current temple recommend, her ministering was done, her tithing was paid and that she had sent birthday cards for each child, grandchild, great grandchild and great great grandchildren, totaling 104.
If we were to summarize Ruby’s life it would go something like this: humbly and lovingly she spent her life unselfishly serving her family and friends. They each were her greatest joy. She enjoyed traveling, camping and playing games with friends and family. She found joy in everything and everyone. Whether it was at church or the grocery store she treated you like you were her best friend. She was always interested in you as an individual. You always felt like you were the most important person in her life.
She could craft anything needed from clothes to curtains and everything in-between. She always added her personal touch which made it unique and special. She was rarely ill or cross and even if she was you wouldn’t know it. She NEVER complained. Manners where very important especially when it came to other people’s feelings. Be kind, smile, think of others, stand up straight, wear lipstick, don’t chew with your mouth open and don’t drink your milk out of the bowl. Some wisdom shared….“I will always tell you if you look funny because who else will tell you besides your mother.” Say your prayers, read your scriptures and go to the temple. “The Lord is in charge.” ”Try something new on the menu, how else will you know if you like it. She was often heard saying “It’s a great life if you don’t weaken”. And she never did weaken!
Her greatest legacy in her beautiful life is her faith in her Savior and the love she has for her family. With her check- list completed, her promises kept and with instructions to her children to meet at the temple, she took her eternal companion’s hand and passed through the veil to reunite with loved ones.
