Ruby Ann Allred Keck passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024, at the age of 93 after a two-month battle with Lymphoma.
Ruby came into this world on May 3, 1931. She was born to Charles Harvard and Ruby Mortensen Allred. She was as precious as the gemstone she was named after being born the only girl following her three brothers. She was the completion to their family.
After graduating from Spanish Fork High School, she married Donald F. Leek September 7, 1949, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they had three children. Though they would later divorce, the family they created would be a beautiful addition to the world and a ripple effect felt by many.
Ruby had an admirable work ethic and worked at various department stores through the years including JC Penney, Sears, Weinstock’s and Nordstrom. She liked to shop for clothing and accessories and had a strong sense of personal style and appearance – always beautiful. She also had an insatiable sweet tooth. Even in her last days, she had a daily dose of ice cream because, why not?
Dancing was one of her favorite pastimes. She enjoyed going to the 13th Floor in Salt Lake City to dance with her friends. It was there that she met John Henry Keck and fell in love. They married on August 17, 1976, in Reno, Nevada. They would later move to Las Vegas where they spent the remainder of their lives enjoying the warm desert climate.
Ruby was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a faithful contributor to the indexing efforts of the Church. She enjoyed this work and was one of the top indexers in the Sandy Granite Stake in Utah. She lived a full, happy, and long life. She endured a fair number of hardships, but she always found strength in her love and faith in Jesus Christ.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and a grandson Charles Courtney Endicott. She is survived by her three children Vickie Endicott, Sherrie Mitchell (Jed), Steve Leek (Keith), 3 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Ruby will be laid to rest in Spanish Fork Cemetery. The family requests a private service to honor and remember their mother and grandmother.
