Rowan Lochlan Russell, born March 24th, 2023, passed away in the arms of his loving parents, Ethan and Abigail Russell, at the Utah Valley Intermountain Hospital on March 25th, 2023. From the moment he entered the world, Rowan showed strength and determination. He fought bravely to overcome the challenges preceding and ensuing his birth, and worked hard with his midwife, nurses, and doctors to heal his body. Breath by breath Rowan fought, but the low PH levels in his blood caused by a lack of oxygen in the end could not be overcome.
Rowan was a blessing long before his birth. He enjoyed, or at least his parents hope he enjoyed, living in a converted shuttle bus for his 9 months in Abi’s belly. His favorite way to tease his Mom was wiggling his little toes up under her rib cage so she had to stop what she was doing and push his foot back towards her stomach. He enjoyed playing hide and seek with his Dad. Rowan would move his arms and legs continuously until right before the hide and seek game began. He would then stop moving and disappear until his Dad gave up on winning.
He enjoyed going to the ballet, eating french bread, drinking mango juice and swimming at the Provo Rec Center. Rowan was the future and center of his Parents’ hopes and dreams. Never before have his parents experienced a love so deep. He was loved by all who met him, and he now watches over his loved ones as he rests in the arms of Jesus.

Carnations symbolize that every moment spent with Rowan on earth will be held in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
Calla Lilies symbolize his magnificence, purity, and innocence.
While crimson roses symbolize our mourning, Doves represent the peace we feel as we know our precious son is in our Savior’s care.
I see him in the wildflowers & in a beautiful butterfly. I feel him in the warm breeze & in the sunset of the sky. I hear him as I listen to a sweet melody. I remember him in my arms as my loved ones are holding me.
