Ronald Watson Todhunter September 11, 1943 - November 5, 2018

Ronald Watson Todhunter was born September 11, 1943 in Paisley, Refrewshire Scotland. He was the second child and only son of Annie Shaw Napier Todhunter and “Ronnie” (Ronald) Todhunter. He attended the Williamsburg school and often played in “Jenny’s Well” during his childhood. As a teenager he worked in the shipyards in Scotland. He came to America when he was 18yrs old with his father and worked at Hotel New House in SLC where they were helped by their sponsors while they waited for his mother and sisters to come a few months later. He became a licensed apprentice plumber.

The family eventually settled in Springville, Utah. From there he served a LDS, North Western States mission under President Barrett.

He married his best friend and dearly loved wife of 52 years, August 16, 1966 in the Salt Lake Temple, after Senator Bennett “played cupid” (according to the front page of the Deseret Newspaper) and brought him from basic training Fort Benning, Georgia for the wedding. Two months later  he was on a troop ship headed for Vietnam. He served as a radio operator in the regular Army. After his tour of Vietnam he was stationed at the Presido in San Francisco where his wife joined him for 1 ½ years. After an honorable discharge, he and his wife returned home, he attended Utah Valley College where he graduated with his Business degree and Hotel, Motel Management degree.

He hired on at the Utah State Hospital where he continued his plumbing trade and then became the boiler operator and worked there for 33 years until his retirement at age 63.  He and his wife spent 12 years camping, traveling and doing service with the Deer Sam traveling club where they enjoyed making many new friends.

He was so fun to be around and always the prankster with family and friends. He liked everyone and was always serving others doing whatever he could for them. He liked people and always got them to smile.

He loved Lake Powell, he was a fish in the water. He learned to water ski barefoot in Thailand. He taught his children to all love the water and water sports. His children and grandchildren are all athletic and he supported them all 100%.

His fun, loving, caring and sacrificing ways will leave an empty spot in all of our hearts.

He is survived by his wife Lynn Brailsford Todhunter, Sons: Ron L. Todhunter (Jennifer), John W. Todhunter (Sunny), Alex R. Todhunter. Daughters: Angie Owens (Brandon), Emily Black (Shaun). 12 Grandchildren: Ashlynne, Cameron and Isaac Todhunter, Journey Todhunter, Kelsey, Lexie, Paisley and Halle Owens, Porter, William, Spencer and Lilly Black. His Two Sisters: Margaret Colledge (Brent), Ada Nelsen (Gary).
