Ronald Leon Nilsson, age 85, passed away May 19, 2023, after many health struggles. He was born in Pocatello, Idaho November 9, 1937 to Oscar Ray and Josephine Lena Nilsson.
He attended schools in Pocatello Idaho, also playing multiple sports in high school. After high school graduation, he attended Idaho State College where he met his wife, Sandra Larsen. They married in Sun Valley Idaho on January 29, 1958. Ron was a member of the Sun Valley ski patrol and very much enjoyed skiing.
Through their married life they lived in Pocatello Idaho, Helper, Price, and Spanish Fork Utah. Spending over 50 years of his life living in Spanish Fork he was involved with the Rotary Club, Sub For Santa, and being Santa Clause for local family Christmas parties. He also spent many years bowling with Duke’s Lanes Bowling League, and the Spanish Fork Mens Golf Association. Golf was his favorite hobby, and it is rumored that he had over 20 holes in one.
Ron worked for JCPenney as the store manager. He and Sandi later opened up their own store on Spanish Fork Main Street, La Tienda. He also worked for Pages Auto and Morris Motors as the used car manager where he eventually retired from.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sandi, parents, siblings, and a grandson, Justin Draper. He is survived by his children Tami (Layne) Draper, Brandon (Kindra) Nilsson, Nancy (Darrin) Wilson, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
There will be a family visitation at Walker Funeral Home on Friday, May 26, 2023 prior to a graveside service at Spanish Fork Cemetery at 11:00 for family and close friends.
