Ronald D. Beck April 7, 1935 - December 18, 2020

Ronald D. Beck was called to his heavenly home on December 18, 2020, at the age of 85.  At the time of his passing, he was in his home in Leland, Utah, on the family homestead, that has been in his family for generations. He deeply loved and was so proud of his heritage.

Ronald was born on April 7, 1935, to Helen and Demar Beck.  He was the only son and had three sisters: Betty Rae, Lenda, and Bonnie. He grew up working on the family farm in Leland, attended schools in Spanish Fork, graduating from Spanish Fork High School. He learned to work hard as a young boy and carried that trait with him his entire life.  He passed on that work ethic legacy to his sons.

He married Shirley Swenson on April 12, 1955, in the Salt Lake Temple; a marriage that lasted 65 years. Together, they have four children: David, Stacey, Scott, and Chad.  At the time of his passing, Ronald and Shirley have 14 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Ronald and Shirley were long-time residents of Spanish Fork. They moved back to the family farm in Leland in 1996.

Ronald was a truck driver but loved working on the farm, as long as he was on a piece of machinery. He had a deep love and respect for the farmland.  He took great care of the farm equipment that he operated while working the ground.  He was very dedicated to being as efficient as possible and would put in long hours to see that the work was done right.  In his truck driving years, he crossed most of the states in America. He was meticulous in his driving and took great pride in delivering his loads early. If he said he would be there, he was.

Later in life, he took time to do some fishing with a long-time friend.  He and Shirley enjoyed going on trips with the Good Sam’s Club to various parts of the country. He also took a keen interest in watching his sons, grandsons, and great-grandsons play baseball and football.  He could sit and watch them play a football game, in the freezing cold, or a double-header baseball game in the summertime, and enjoy every minute of it.

Ronald and Shirley have been together for many years, and we know our mother will miss dad’s company; but, we are all grateful that his suffering has ended and that he is at peace.  We look forward to a grand reunion, when we will see him again.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; and his children: David (Gay), Stacey, Scott (Raquel), and Chad (Katherine)

There will be a graveside service at the Spanish Fork Cemetery on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at 11 a.m.

We would like to extend a heartfelt and special thank you to Raquel, Ronald’s daughter-in-law.  She was unwavering in her care and concern for Ronald and Shirley. We would also like to express our deepest appreciation to Maple Creek Hospice for their dedicated care and service to our family.  They provided inspired counsel and service at a time when it was needed most.
