Rocky Lane Banks, 63, passed away on May 20, 2025, due to complications from advanced pulmonary disease. He was born on January 30, 1962, in Kissimmee, Florida, to Hazel Parker Banks. Rocky spent his childhood in Lakeshore, Utah, attended Spanish Fork High School, and was living in Provo, Utah, at the time of his passing.
Rocky proudly served in the United States Navy as an air traffic controller. His naval service took him across the globe aboard the USS Forrestal, and later the USS California, where he spent the final year of his enlistment.
A true outdoorsman, Rocky found joy in fishing, gardening, and spending time in nature. He had a deep appreciation for quiet moments and the simple pleasures of life.
Though it was often joked about within the family, Rocky somehow always managed to hold the unofficial title of “Mom’s favorite”—a distinction he wore with a mischievous smile. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was sealed to his parents and siblings, a connection he carried with him even through years of inactivity.
Professionally, Rocky worked as a heavy equipment operator. Known for his strong work ethic and remarkable memory, he left his mark on many projects throughout Utah Valley. While he often described himself as a bit of a recluse, he formed lasting friendships wherever he worked.
Rocky is survived by his father, Dan M. Banks of Spanish Fork, Utah; siblings Steven (Janalee) Banks of Spanish Fork; Perri Adams of Georgia; Connie (Jamie) Simpson of Georgia; Rusty Banks of Goshen, Utah; Kim (Julie) Banks of Spanish Fork; and Alona Banks of Payson, Utah. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Parker Banks.
Rocky will be remembered for his quiet strength, his gentle humor, and the deep loyalty he held for those he loved.
A private ceremony will be held for Rocky at a later date.
