February 27, 2023 at 10:14 pmI am so sorry for your loss. Growing up together in Ames, Robert and I had lots of good times from golfing, ISU games, to basketball, shingling his parents roof, and so much more. He was a great friend and a great man.

February 27, 2023 at 10:23 pmI met Robert and Elizabeth when they moved to Charleston, IL. My late husband and I quickly became friends with them. Robert and I were in to running at the time and did our fair share of runs. My husband would drop us off somewhere, and we would run back into town..It didn’t matter how hot or cold, we were committed! Robert was a wonderful person. I had the pleasure of catching up with him about a month ago after his phone accidentally called me. We had a great time, chatting about old times and he was so happy with his job and being close to the kids and grandkids. Sometimes people are in your life for a short time and you gradually forget them, but I never forgot Robert and the rest of the Flatt family. Robert set the example of how to live with grace and kindness. He will be missed and never forgotten.

May 14, 2023 at 10:42 pmI played on the same softball team with Robert when we were in Ames. He, as well as his Dad and his Brother David, were always gentlemen on, and off, the ball diamond. He, his Dad, and his Brother were, obviously, very important cogs on our team. Some years we did great in the win-lose ranking and a few others we weren’t as successful. It was always great to see him arrive when it was game time.
