Robert Marion Skinner July 29, 1937 - August 2, 2025

Robert Marion Skinner, of Payson, Utah, having recently celebrated his 88th birthday, passed away on the morning of August 2, 2025, in Payson, Utah. Our “Bab” … “PeeWa” … “Babster” … was born July 29, 1937, in Provo, Utah, to Marion Ray Skinner and Bernetta Allen Skinner. He grew up with one sister, Arlene, and three brothers: Merrill, Don, and Leon.

Robert graduated from Springville High School and then attended Utah Technical College in Provo, Utah. During his lifetime, he lived in Springville, Utah; Kearns, Utah; and Payson, Utah.

He married Merna Francis Kiggins on July 5, 1956, in Provo, Utah. Robert and Merna welcomed five children to their union (four sons and one daughter): Cody, Randy, Shonda, Jason, and Ricky. They were later sealed together on June 11, 2011, in the Boise Idaho Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy from January 1955 to January 1962; he remained proud of his service and was a patriot of the USA his entire life.

To support his family, Robert worked for 38 years as a car man with Rio Grande Railroad, which he loved and talked about often, retiring at age 58.

Robert loved hunting, fishing, camping … anything he could do outdoors, especially if it included his family. He also liked bowling, football, baseball, basketball – an ultimate lover of sports. He coached all his kids’ sports teams during their growing-up years. Robert looked forward to, and enjoyed, going to Wendover to gamble. Most of all, our “Babster” loved his country, his family, and all his “little punkins.”

Surviving Robert are four of his five children: Cody (Cindy) Skinner of Riverton, Utah; Randy (Monica) Skinner of Kuna, Idaho; Shonda (Russ) Morse of Payson, Utah; Jason (Alisha) Skinner of West Valley City, Utah. Also survived by daughter-in-law, Jill Skinner of Salt Lake City, Utah; as well as 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Arlene (Wayne) Glover. Additionally, Robert is survived by a great lady and friend, Pat Gasser, and her family. Robert’s family expresses their appreciation to Pat and family for their love and support.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Merna Skinner; his son, Ricky Robert Skinner; his parents, Marion and Bernetta Skinner; and by his brothers: Merrill Skinner, Don Skinner, and Leon Skinner.
