Richard Scott Perry January 25, 1959 - March 18, 2026

Richard Scott Perry (known by Scott) passed away in Payson, Utah on March 18, 2026 at 67 years of age. Scott was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes at 18 months old and was not expected to live much beyond his early adult years. So even though his passing is with much sadness, there is also a great deal of gratitude for the many years he was blessed to live upon this earth.

Born on January 25, 1959 in Fort Worth, TX and raised in Friendswood, TX, Scott graduated from Friendswood High School in 1977. He then completed an Associate’s Degree in Diesel Mechanics from SOWELA Technical Community College— Lamar S. Salter Campus—Leesville, LA.

Scott was a longtime resident of Alvin, TX, and served the communities of Alvin, Friendswood, and surrounding areas for over 40 years as a mechanic. There was nothing he could not fix when it came to automobiles. Beyond his love of anything automotive, Scott also loved people and helped “fix” them, too, through his kindness, service, and love. He had an exceptional memory when it came to names and numbers. He never went into a store without greeting every employee personally. He knew all his neighbors and wherever he went, he saw friends and acquaintances.

Scott was a quiet observer who never missed a thing. He was quick-witted with a subtle, sharp sense of humor that would catch you off guard in the best possible way. But more than anything, what defined Scott was his Christlike character. He would do anything for anyone—no questions asked. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after having been baptized through conversion in 1997.

Along with the gospel of Jesus Christ, his family and cars, Scott’s greatest love in life was football. He was truly lost between February and August. The NFL Combine and the NFL Draft helped him endure the “dry” season.

Scott is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of almost 14 years, Ceteka Holland Perry, who currently resides in Payson, UT; his brother, Randall Perry (Marty Sabota) of Fort Worth, TX; children, Crystal Perry and Phillip Perry of Seguin, TX (mother, Diana); stepchildren: Timothy A. Collins Jr. (Galadriel), Alvin, TX; Shannon Collins, Manvel, TX; Joseph F. Collins III, Alvin, TX; April Collins, North Field, VT; Joshua Collins, Manvel, TX; Summer Collins, Alvin, TX; Veronica Hays (John), Houston, TX (mother, Pat, deceased); and Cliff Wong (Emily), Aliso Viejo, CA; Bryce Wong (Cassie), Palm Desert, CA; Jordan Wong (Kaylie), Springville, UT (mother, Ceteka); 32 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Barbara Perry; and numerous aunts and uncles.

The memorial service for Scott has been canceled at this time.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Diabetes Association.
