Rex Lynn Campbell October 11, 2026

Francis, Utah—Rex Lynn Campbell, 72, peacefully passed away on June 29, 2025, with his wife Elene and family by his side.

Rex was born in Ogden, Utah on April 28,1953, to parents Adam Joseph Campbell and Jessye Mae Duke Campbell.

Rex graduated from Bonneville High School in Washington Terrace, in 1971. As a young adult, Rex was mentored by his father- in-law, Kenneth Jensen, and mastered the craft of carpentry.

Rex passed on his carpentry skills to his sons and taught them a variety of skills, from making keepsake boxes to building a house.

Rex was a fervent artist and a quiet observer of beauty, viewing everything in this world as art. He was a highly-skilled silversmith, leather smith, and charcoal artist. From a young age, he found his bliss in songwriting, becoming a dedicated and acclaimed classical, fingerstyle, and bluegrass guitarist.

Rex had an extensive career in construction leadership and land development. Since the 1980s, Rex’s work has shaped the landscape of Wasatch and Summit Counties, including Jeremy Ranch, Snyder’s Mill, Wolf Creek Ranch, and Stewart Ranches.

In the 1990s, he served as Vice-President of the Home Builders Association of Summit County. His work was featured for several years in the Summit County Parade of Homes and other home shows, highlighting his contribution to the Utah luxury home market.

Rex had a deep love for the outdoors; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, rockhounding, and metal detecting.

He took his children on countless wilderness adventures. He loved Flaming Gorge off site camping and participating in fishing derbies, always bringing home pounds of fish. Rex and his wife Elene loved to travel throughout the Western states and Mexico.

Rex was known for his willingness to help others in the community and was a feature at the local diner. His work ethic was matched only by his capacity for humor and charm, which drew people to him effortlessly. Life was his canvas, and he loved it fiercely, living each moment on his own free-spirited terms.

Rex is survived by his loving wife Elene; his sisters Vonda (Jim) Huffman, and Venita Wood; his children Hayden Campbell, Forrest (Sumi) Campbell, Trish (Vixon) VanOtten, Dalton (Hailey) Campbell, Justin Fesler, Alexis (John) Tsikoudakis, and Andrea Kontgis; his niece Pam (Jake) Koenig; and his grandchildren Zayah (Courtney) Campbell, Damen (Victoria) Campbell, Maya Harrell, Jonathan Fairbanks, Mary Fairbanks, Anna Fairbanks, Evangelia Tsikoudakis, and Emmanuel Tsikoudakis.

The family would like to express gratitude to Missy Fayville and Amber Rider for their love and support.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 16th, from 2:00p.m. – 6:00p.m. (ceremony 2:30p.m. – 3:00p.m.) at The Ranch Center Barn at Wolf Creek Ranch (3480 East Bench Creek Road, Woodland, UT). The family is requesting guests wear pink in honor of Rex’s love of flamingos.
