Renata Pace Webber Funeral Service

Renata Pace Webber passed away in Payson Utah on August 4, 2022. She was born November 12, 1934, in Safford Arizona. She was the first of two children born to Ivan Layton Pace and Christina “Christy” Luedert.

When Renata was seven years old, her father passed away in a tragic accident. Christy relocated the family to Cecil, Arkansas. Renata and her younger brother Robert “Bob” enjoyed many fun adventures together. In Arkansas, Renata developed her love of the outdoors and nature, learning to sew, and Academic studies. Renata graduated from High school as the salutatorian. She followed the advice of a family friend Spencer W. Kimball to attend Brigham Young University (BYU), even though she had been awarded a scholarship to the University of Arkansas. She arrived at BYU with a suitcase of clothes that she had made herself and a sewing machine. She graduated in library sciences and received a teaching credential.

She met and married Maurice Richard Webber while attending BYU. They had seven children together: Calvin Maurice, Benjamin Richard, Catherine Pace, William Daniel, Grant Louis, Miryam Rose and Paul Ivan.

Renata settled in Toppenish, Washington. There for the next 40 years, she raised her family with love, faith, and dedication. She was always kind and loving to all. She has left a legacy of faith in Jesus Christ and his restored gospel. For the last decade of her life, she has lived with family. She has gone to great lengths to support her children and grandchildren. She loved family and family history work and made them the focus of her life.

Renata is survived by her brother Robert Pace, six of her seven children, 34 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by many loved ones (parents, a son, and two grandchildren).

Her legacy is an ability to love which she gave through countless hugs and sincere caring. This love now enlightens the hearts of those who are blessed to know her.

    Benjamin Webber says

Renata Pace Webber passed away at Orchard View Assisted Living in Payson, Utah on August 4, 2022. She was born on November 12, 1934, in Safford Graham, Arizona, the first of two children of Ivan Layton Pace and Christina Luedert.

Renata’s father died a week after her 7th birthday. Tragedy struck the entire country 25 days later with the bombing of Pearl Harbor. In spite of these tragedies and multiple moves, Renata managed to graduate from school as salutatorian of her class in Arkansas. She would go on to graduate from Brigham Young University in Library Science, she also certified to teach school. She met and married Maurice Richard Webber while attending BYU.

Maurice and Renata had seven children together, Calvin Maurice, Benjamin Richard, Catherine Pace, William Daniel, Grant Louis, Miryam Rose and Paul Ivan. While traveling to a Pioneer Day event, they were hit by a car who failed to stop at an intersection. Seat belts were not yet in most cars in those days. Maurice, Renata and their 5-month-old baby Calvin were all three ejected from the car. All were hurt badly. Through the power of the Priesthood, Renata healed at a rate and to a degree that astonished the doctors attending them. However, their son Calvin passed away. Since Calvin had been born on Valentine’s Day, a birthday cake every Valentine’s Day introduced her children to the brother they had never met. By cutting a round cake in half, with a square cake she would make a cake that was a perfect heart.

Many times, when things were difficult, both parents would rededicate themselves to living the Gospel to ensure that they would be worthy to be with Calvin in the next life. Renata was the perfect example of living the Gospel to the fullest. She will be buried Tuesday, August 10th next to Calvin in the Salt Lake City cemetery.

Renata was a very resourceful person. Renata made most of her kid’s clothes. She made bread. She made butter. She made ice cream. She fixed things that broke, like a toaster for example. She grew, cooked and canned most of the food for the family. It was common for Renata to be on her hands and knees pulling weeds in her garden. She would usually be accompanied by a white Chinese gander goose. If she was not careful, he would even try to follow her into the house. Like her mother, whenever an animal was hurt or had something wrong, she would doctor it to health. She was usually successful in saving the creature. Renata loved nature. She taught her kids to love God and all his creations.

At the advice of Spencer W. Kimball, a family friend, Renata gave up scholarships to an education in Arkansas to attend BYU. She arrived at BYU with a suitcase of clothes she had made herself and a sewing machine. Her wallet was soon lost. This kept her from returning home when she was feeling lonely and overwhelmed. By the time her wallet was returned to lost and found, she had made friends, and found a job with a place to stay.

Renata will be remembered by many who were touched by her example of Christlike living. She will especially be remembered by her children, to whom she was the ultimate supermom. She will also be remembered by her grandchildren. As long as she was able, she attended all of their games and events as she had done with her children.

Renata is survived by: her brother, Robert Pace; Maurice Webber who she married on 21 Sept 1956; 6 children; 34 grandchildren; and 16 great grandkids. She was proceeded in death by many loved ones (parents, a son, and 2 grandkids).

Her legacy is an ability to love given through countless hugs and sincere caring. This love now enlightens the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 711 South 600 East, Payson, Utah. My first memory of Renata was when she was a bride traveling with Maurice to visit the Montana in-laws. She was surrounded mainly by strangers and was at ease with the crowd. Through the years I noted she carried the same grace and poise, no matter the age range; no matter the challenges of simultaneously keeping an eye on six active kids. Renata observed me growing up from being a grade school kid to a middle-aged adult and beyond!!! I never felt I was a stranger to her. Renata and I just picked up from where we left off. She will be missed.

Just as Renata cared for her ailing mother, Renata’s children cared for her as her health failed.

We send you and your brothers a big and strong hug… .remember families are eternal and one day you will be with her again, in Spanish there is a phrase that says: “IT IS NOT A GOODBYE, IT IS A SEE YOU LATER MOM”

I just stumbled upon Renata’s memorial page while looking for a recipe for Feather Rolls. Renata and Maurice used to sell us milk when I was a little girl, and from time to time our family {Billie Jean and Dave Conner (my Mother and Dad) and us children (the 3 youngest Davy, Crysty, and Joleen) and (the oldest 3 children Chad, Renée and LaDonna), were invited to their house for dinner. Renata was such a very sweet lady, a wonderful hostess, and absolutely wonderful cook! I remember that when it was time to leave I didn’t want to go home.
She was such a a good cook, that my mother would ask her if she could have the recipes of some of the foods that she had prepared for us. One such recipe is what actually happened to bring me to this page. The recipe was for feather rolls. We always called them Renata Weber’s feather rolls. Those dinner rolls became a part of every one of our holiday meals.
I am truly sorry for your loss.
In my mind though, I can just see it now, my Mama and Renata in heaven cooking in a kitchen together preparing a banquet for our Lord 💕
