Reed Martin Turner returned to his heavenly home Sunday, December 12, 2021. He was born in June 1967 in Farmington, Utah, the second son of Ron and Annette Turner. He lived in Ohio and Wisconsin during his growing up years and excelled in wrestling in high school and at BYU. He loved playing and watching sports and weight training with his sons. Throughout his life, he always cheered on Ohio State, BYU, and the Chicago Bears.
As a young man, Reed served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Sao Paulo Brazil Mission and then graduated from BYU in Business and International Marketing. He was a hard worker who gave 110% percent in all his endeavors. An avid reader, he would read 5 books at the same time, but always read the scriptures. He was Christlike, humble, and forgiving. He loved hunting, camping, fly fishing, anything outdoors; but, his greatest joy was his family. He married his wife, Lisa, in 2001, in the Manti Temple and they have 4 beautiful children: Josh, Luke, Emma, and Sadie.
He was completely devoted to his adoring wife and children and was their cheerleader and loving motivator. He was there to cheer on his kids at every activity, game, and event with a distinctive whistle that could be heard above everything else.
Reed served in many capacities, but he particularly loved serving in the Young Men’s program for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He dearly loved all the boys.
Genuine and happy by nature, Reed found joy in the joy of others. He was a fabulous cook, with the grill being his specialty, and he made the best steaks in the world, but he was always the last to eat, wanting to make sure there was enough for everyone else. If he knew you, he would be a loyal and faithful friend forever. His love knew no bounds, and he never had a bad word to say about anyone.
We honor a life well lived, a man who loved well, a life patterned after our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Reed is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; their sons, Josh and Luke; their daughters, Emma and Sadie; his parents, Ron and Annette Turner; brothers: Rob (Addy), Ryan (Amy), Rhett (Eliisa), Rick; and many nieces and nephews.
His family would like to thank all the healthcare workers that cared for Reed at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah. They would also like to thank everyone for all the generosity and kindness that has been showered upon them.
Viewings and funeral services will be held at the Spanish Fork East Stake Building, 1158 East 1240 South, Spanish Fork, Utah 84660. There will be a viewing Sunday evening, December 19, 2021, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Relief Society room. December 19, 2021 at 4:45 pmThoughts and prayers to the Reed Turner family on this hardest of hard days. Though Reed and I were close for only our high school years, good friendships last forever.
To Ron and Annette – you raised a wonderful family of 5 boys. I enjoyed visiting your house during those years. Always welcoming and full of kindness. Thank you.
To Rob, Ryan, Rhett and Rick – Gosh it was hard to write your names without Reed. I know you will be there for Lisa and the kids as the strength of your family is great.
To Lisa and Kids- I am so sorry for your loss. Reed left such a positive impression in my life, as I know he did for many others. Paying it forward, as we all should, so a large friendship circle exists in times of need. Cherish your memories. Embrace all the love and lessons he shared with you.
To Deforest HS Classmates – Some memories. Billy and I destined to being the shortest in our class until Reed arrived – instant camaraderie. Dave/Reed/Me painting our faces and leading cheers at the basketball games. RMT-5 – the yellow bug with black top zipping into the parking lot. Brian and Reed being great buddies – tallest and shortest. Football. Wrestling. Reed’s infectious smile. So many friends. Such good times.

January 25, 2022 at 10:57 pmI just saw this obituary after a friend shared it with me. I worked with Reed for a bit at Advantage Rent-a-Car in Provo before he went to work at Temkin and I went on to a law enforcement career.
Reed was a good man and was very funny. I can still remember his unique-sounding laugh. He was awesome to work with and I have thought of those fun times often as I have driven on I-15 past Temkin.
My condolences to your family as you mourn the loss of Reed. It’s been probably 27 years since I last has a good conversation with Reed but he was a good man that left an impression on me that has lasted almost 3 decades.
