Rebecca Gay Smith Bailey passed away peacefully, in her sleep at home, on Sunday, June 23, 2021, leaving her 5 children, 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren without their North Star.
The North Star, Polaris has been used for centuries as a guide for sailors and other lost souls and weary travelers, showing the way every night, from every shore, forever bright. The one beautifully unique talent Polaris claimed was that it never set. Though the sun would sometimes dim it and the weather would occasionally obscure it, it always remained, forever bright.
This was our Rebecca. Though dimmed by death and obscured by physical absence, she is, and will remain, our bright beacon we aim for as long as we carry her memory.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 28, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street, Provo, Utah.
