Ramona Vache` Whaley passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Thursday, November 15, 2018. Even though a massive stroke, nine years ago, robbed her body, she was able to still inspire those around her. She was born December 13, 1942, in Reading, PA. She was a graduate of BYU and taught grades 1st – 8th in San Jose, CA, where she met her husband, of almost 50 years, Richard Hugh Whaley.
She was known for her creativity, constant learning, brilliant mind, love of music, books, crossword puzzles, entertaining; she was a patron of the arts, educator for ESL, had a deep love of the scriptures, the Savior, was constantly active, always serving, and being a peacemaker. She created stunning table centerpieces, and made holidays, birthdays, as well as the littlest occasion cause for a celebration. Being a U.S. Army Chaplain’s wife for 25+ years, Ramona made sure wherever the Army sent the family, a loving home was unpacked.
Ramona is survived by her beloved husband, Richard Hugh Whaley; her four children: Elisabeth (Jason) Pintar, Chamaine (Kurt) Wollenzein, Scotten (Deanna) Whaley, Mesha (Kelley) Hawkins; 12 grandchldren; two brothers: Albin Rothermel and Robin Rothermel; and many more family and friends too numerous to name.
We know she will continue to shine and work many more miracles for those she loved.
