Peggy Anne Marsh Christensen July 12, 1940 - September 10, 2023

My Choice written for Ross by Peggy

I choose you. Simple as they sound the words are true, And they resound from deep inside my heart, not just my voice. You are set apart; you are my choice. Now dedicated to Peggy from Ross.

Salem, UT- Peggy Anne Marsh Christensen died Sunday evening, September 10th in Springville, Utah.  She was born July 12, 1940 in Bingham City, Utah to Gertrude Lloyd and Rex Clifford Marsh.  Her father was killed in 1942 at the Kennecott copper mine so her mother soon moved with Peggy to Kenilworth, Utah where Peggy lived until she married Jay Ross Christensen in the Salt Lake Temple on September 20, 1958.  She is survived by her husband Ross Christensen and all six of her children Pamela Christensen Baer (Salem, Utah), Cari [Don] Gilbert (Salem, Utah), Cheryl [Jeff] Gibbs (American Fork, Utah), Neil [Darla] Christensen, (Las Vegas, Nevada), Catherine [Guillermo] Jones (Tucson, Arizona), and Melissa [Clint] Hoaldridge (South SLC, Utah).  Also surviving Peggy are 23 beloved grandchildren and 15 great grandkids as well as several step descendants.  She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her half- brother- George E. Richards, a granddaughter- Iris Christensen and several step siblings as well as Pop, her step-father Allen Johnson.

As a young teenager she often accompanied her Uncle Evan Smith as his High Council companion speaker throughout Carbon County.  This is one of the ways she developed a strong testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ and her Father in Heaven and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  She kept that strong testimony alive throughout the years by continual reading and studying of the scriptures but especially the Book of Mormon.  Her children all have memories of seeing their mother praying on her knees as they passed her bedroom door.  She served missions with Ross to Nauvoo and Carthage Visitors Centers, Edinburgh Scotland and at the Provo MTC.

The strength of her testimony and love of her Heavenly Father sustained her during her health problems and challenges with depression. She fought her own battles daily, and through it all did her best to express her love and devotion to her husband Ross, her children, grandkids and greats. Her life is told through the poetry she wrote.

Peggy has a tree dedicated in celebration of her life at Cole Park in Salem, UT. Our hope is that it will bring joy and comfort to kids and families for generations. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 16th, 2023 from 11-12:00 at the Church of  Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the Apple Blossom Chapel, 25 West Apple Blossom Way, Salem, Utah. There will be a viewing Friday evening 6-8pm at the same location.

Thank you to the skilled nursing team at Heritage Gardens as well as the entire Aspen Ridge Hospice team – especially Gabrielle, Andrea, Melissa, Charity, Denise and Gracie – for their kind and trusted tender care of Peggy when she needed it most.

Don’t interrupt my temple time by whispering in my ear. I’ve come to visit God today; it’s His voice I want to hear.
