Peggy Ann Stewart Funeral Service

Peggy Ann Stewart, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother of Salem, Utah, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 26, 2023.

Peggy was born on February 24, 1947 to Jack and Marie Stoddard in Soda Springs, Idaho and she grew up on a family ranch near Lava Hot Springs, ID.  She attended Marsh Valley High School and upon graduation she attended Snow College, where she received an Associate Degree. During her time at Snow College she met Rex Kay Stewart Jr., the love of her life.  On June 02, 1966 they were happily married and sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Peggy had a great passion and desire to serve anyone she met, as her love for the Savior was contagious and touched so many lives.  She was a true example to her friends and family.  Her testimony of the gospel and power of prayer was her life’s mission. She taught others to look at things differently and to value who they were. She reminded you that you were loved and that you could overcome any challenges you faced in life. She worked at the Red Cross and was recognized in the organization as “Peggy Platelet”, which was another opportunity for her to touch the lives of others, whether through conversation or prayer.

People knew her by her big laughter and contagious smile and you could always count on being greeted with open arms and a kind heart. She will forever be known as “Mama Stew” as she was a mother to all. She loved spending time with her grandkids, taking “long” road trips, sharing her testimony and made sure to spoil them at every opportunity.

She was also recognized for many of her talents, such as sewing (wonderful seamstress), crafts, floral/flowers, pianist and planning of weddings and other events.  She loved to spend time in the temple, researching genealogy and served as a temple worker at the Provo & Payson temples. Her Christ like attributes, pure heart and example of selfless service, hard work and sacrifice will be remembered by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sister Jackie (Kevin) Peterson, her children Lisa (Larry) Draper, Chad (Dora) Stewart, Justin (Jill) Stewart, Matt (Anna) Stewart and Jason (Kim) Stewart, 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Thursday March 30, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral home 587 S. 100 W. Payson, UT 84651.  The funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. (viewing from 10-10:45 a.m.) on Friday March 31 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Salem West Stake Center, 696 S. 300 W.
