Nila Norwood Hood, 76, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2019, surrounded by her family.
Nila was born on June 7, 1943 in Moroni, Utah to Grant and Grace Norwood. She graduated from Springville High in 1962. She then married her high school sweetheart, David Hood on June 7, 1962 in Mapleton, Utah.
She devoted her life to her family; they were her greatest priority. She was an amazing homemaker, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, cooking, shopping, car rides, the occasional alone time, and keeping up on her daytime soaps. Her guilty pleasure was watching WWE (Wrestling).
Nila is survived by her husband of 57 years, David, and their 2 children: Carl (Nolene) Hood, of Springville, and Marina Galindo of Payson. Nila was the proud grandmother of 9 grandchildren: Amy Johnson Anderson, Casey Hood, Tonya (George) Patino, Bobby Hood, Cassandra (Alex) Doty, Candace Hood, Kelly Hood, Ashly Mangelson, Alexander Schirmer; and 17 great-grandchildren: Haley, Cheyenne, Shawnee, Vannessa, Jazmine, Damian, Logan, Carmen, Adryanna, Emiliano, Javier, Esperanza, Kyurem, Zephyr, Ember, Miguel Jr., and Ariel.
Nila had 4 siblings: Kirk, Carla, Kaye, and Judy. She is preceded in death by her parents: Grant and Grace; as well as 3 grandchildren: Kelly Hood, Ashly Schirmer Mangelson, and Miguel Hernandez Jr.
Nila leaves behind a legacy of love that has touched so many of us.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Walker Funeral Home at 587 South 100 West, Payson Utah. Family and friends may visit Friday, January 3, 2020 from 6-8pm at Walker Funeral Home and on Saturday, January 4, 2020 from Noon-12:45pm prior to the service.
