Nelda Averett Smith passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family to be happily reunited with her loving husband on June 10, 2023. She was born March 24, 1928, in Springville, Utah to George Edward and Vivian E Davis Averett. She grew up in Springville, Utah.
She married her sweetheart LaMar Smith, December 12, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed February 21, 2015 in the Provo Utah Temple. They are parents of two wonderful daughters. Nelda worked as an X-ray technician at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah and then later at Bishop Randall Hospital in Lander, Wyoming. She received further training there to become a heart catheter technician as well. She loved her work in the medical field.
Mom loved cooking for her family and friends. She was a very good cook. We have all missed her French toast and Sunday dinners. She also loved reading, camping and traveling. She was active in the JC wives when she lived in Springville doing various projects to help the elderly, to help provide Christmas for those who needed help. She loved being in her club and preparing a very special meal when it was her turn. She also served in the church. Her greatest love was family and friends.

Nelda is survived by her two daughters Sharen Shaeffer and Mary DeeAnn Earl both of Vernal, Utah, 9 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar; her parents, George Edward Averett and Vivian Davis Averett; her infant brother, Charles; her brother, Max Averett; sister-in-law, Lucille Averett; and sons-in-law, Herb Shaeffer and Chuck Earl.
